Iran nuclear program. It is a lie

U.S. Warns Iran Moving Closer to Nuclear Weapon

Adam Kredo - DECEMBER 11, 2020 3:10 PM

The United States on Friday warned Iran is moving closer to obtaining a nuclear weapon, citing a new law passed by the Islamic Republic’s ruling authority that orders the country to enrich uranium to levels needed to fuel a bomb.

Iranian leaders approved a new law last week that requires the country to stockpile large amounts of enriched uranium, the key component in a nuclear weapon. Iran seeks to raise the level of its enriched stockpiles to around 20 percent, a threshold level typically used only for the purposes of a bomb, rather than nuclear energy.

This level of enrichment "moves Iran closer to the ability to obtain a nuclear weapon," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement on the new law. "Iran has provided no credible technical rationale for why it needs to move precipitously to enrich uranium to that level for any peaceful purpose."

I thought bomb levels were typically 90%. 20% will typically be used for medical isotopes or other research purposes. I support them being able to make medical isotopes , and enrich up to 20% to support that. If we take that away from them, we should compensate them via other means. Make a deal.

Biden will make a deal. It will be to allow them to pretty much do whatever they want, and I am sure we will provide them funds to do it.

Just another of Obamas failed deals about to go by the wayside, soon it will be nothing but a bad memory.

Seems @FLVOL69 is the only bad memory these days.

Apparently his brain broke on election day, and he's been AWOL since.

Pity... such an insightful, thoughtful human being.

A bomb doesn't use 20% enriched uranium. Also, navy reactors and some research reactors use highly enriched uranium (90+%) for fuel.

Or because it's more efficient and allows for more compact size and they were designed to use it in the first place. That's how you fit two 550 MW reactors on a ship.

I haven't seen any PWR's that produce that kind of MW for a marine vessel, Nimitz class is about 200 mW per reactor. PWR can use almost any percentage of fissile material and of course a higher percentage is going to be more efficient, my point was they are using decommissioned warheads a fuel. Nothing more.

I was on a Nimitz class. His number is correct for Nimitz class. Your number is closer to the reactors on the Enterprise

Those weren't actions by the Iranian government.

You're playing a dangerous game here. How much $ would the US owe if we had to pay countries for damages?

Seriously? We help rebuild japan and germany, We've been repaying and giving money to countries for decades. So i think We've paid more than our fair share. This Anti-american attitude you have sucks. You think china would compensate any country?

But you made it sound like they're using 90+ % U-235 because that's what was available from cold war weapons. I don't doubt that some of the uranium in reactor fuel comes from reprocessed material, including bombs. So what?

What is anti-American about being against bad behavior by our government?

What does "paying our fair share" even mean in relation to paying for damages. If you're a rich guy who pollutes a river, do you get to say "i pay my fair share in taxes" or are you liable for damages?

Comparing us to China doesn't absolve us. Holding ourselves to a higher standard than China holds itself isn't anti-American.

We've spent trillions rebuildung countries, so we have corrected any wrongs we might have done. Problem with repressives is that no amount of money will satisfy your demand for prepetual forgiveness from america and that we must give handouts to other countries indefinitely

Why do you think think the trillions we have spent have "corrected any wrongs" with all countries? How can you or anyone even make that judgment?

Also, you're getting out of control here. All I said in OP is that if we're going to hold Iran liable for the actions of terrorists within their country, then the flood gates open for US liability. I have not said that I want America to "give handouts". You're completely missing the point and you don't understand my beliefs or position, and somehow you've turned my actual position of no handouts to perpetual, indefinite handouts. It's quite the leap.
