With the new safer barriers - one option is to make the walls higher and/or have a lip that prevents cars from getting above the wall into the fence. Of course if the roll bar was sheared before Wheldon hit the catch fence it probably wouldn't have mattered.

You can make the walls as high as you want. The problem Indy cars have is their extreme propensity to get airborne. It's what you get with something almost 2,000 lbs lighter than a NASCAR chassis, traveling 25% faster and shaped like a wing.

Actually, IndyCars have "flat" bottoms, which if the car is pitched upward at all, it takes off. The Lola's and Reynards didn't fly nearly as much. The car taking off is much more the problem of this iteration of the Dallara. The previous ones didn't fly as much, either.

Would never happen, but I'd go every year if it did much like how I did with Nashville when they had a race.

No way it would happen. Indy Cars would be one long demo derby if they did, and would be a one and done deal. I would like to see someone bring a top line IRL car to the speed run if they have it again. The track may be too bumpy for an IRL car to go maximum speed.
