Just heard on ESPN radio that the two names being tossed around for the opening as of now are Phil Jackson and John Calipari. No link just heard it on the Scott Van Pelt show.

I would love to see the KY boards if he does go. Looks like they will put full court press on Phil Jackson

He better make a deep tourney win before he goes. I have some serious cash riding on him

Who will be the Knicks' next head coach? - Knicks Blog - ESPN New York

JOHN CALIPARI: Calipari has what he calls "the greatest job in basketball at any level" at Kentucky. But it could be tough for Calipari to resist the pull of New York. If Calipari wins a national title at Kentucky this season, you have to think he'd get the itch to rectify his reputation in the NBA. Calipari had a 72-112 record over three seasons in New Jersey. If he wants to make people forget about his Nets tenure and prove that he can win in the NBA, the Knicks will offer a great opportunity.

Odds that he is the next Knicks coach: strong.

If the mods wanna move this that's fine I apologize, but I know this won't even be seen in the NCAA forum or discussed like it will here.

Apparently the Knicks are said to be eyeing 2 coaches for next year. Phil Jackson and John calipari, the Knicks are definitely a team I could see Cal leaving for IMO.

why would Phil retire from a team like the Lakers, and go to a team like NY? doesnt make sense imo. if he wanted to coach, it would be in LA with the team he has won multiple titles with. Melo is NOT Kobe Bryant.

Unless the contract says seven years, no cut, no penalties if he leaves earlier, with the largest contract in professional sports history.:good!:
GO VOLS!

I know this is your first spring on the board, but we do this every year. Same thread, different NBA teams. Eventually he will leave for the NBA and someone will be right.

It would be another bonehead move by the Knicks. All they need to do is look at his career across the river in New Jersey. Guy's a world class recruiter, average coach. That doesn't exactly translate to a salary cap.

Its Grudens job if he leaves Tampa (which he wont). But I hear he owns some land in Lake Hopatcong NJ......so maybe! If not him, look for Kevin Steele or Randy Shannon.
