Is Charlie Strong On The Hot Seat Now?

Whenever an official says someone's not on the hot seat, it means they're on the hot seat.

For sure. When the statement is made we won't move on a coach in season. Rest assured if things go south that as soon as the last game goes final before bowl season then next morning there is probably an opening.

Texas seems to be Tom Herman's dream job.

or career suicide if it does work out for him -- Im sure they will expect him to come in and be in the CFB playoffs his first season --- Texas boosters and as bad and arrogant as NDs

The AD isnt --- the rich bigshot boosters are ---

Red McCombs is now the largest donor that Texas has, Joe Jamail died. Both men were against the hiring of Strong. At the time Charlie was hired McCombs said that Strong wouldn't even make a good DC...turns out he was right. Gonna be interesting to see if they cross McCombs again.

That hot seat is searing hot for Strong right now...I can see the AD's decision to wait until the end of the season but you know Herman is drooling right now to take over that job.

I'd retire if I was Miles before I went to Purdue

If he wants to keep coaching, it would be a great option. Zero expectations, easy schedule in the West division of the Big 10. I bet he could still get lower-tier talent out of Louisiana to follow him up there for a couple of years and would be able to get them bowl eligible in a year or two. If he can go 7-5 on a consistent basis, he's a hero. Would be a late-career Steve Spurrier/Rich Brooks move.

Herman to Texas. Petrino to LSU. Miles to Purdue. Strong back to Louisville.

Maybe so. Petrino might stay put. Fisher or Fedora may end up at LSU. Kiffen and Miles likely to be considered by Houston, Louisville, FSU, UNC if those jobs open up.

Andy staples tweeted that essentially the Charlie Strong experiment wasn't working in Austin, only to have some BLM dude call him a "boy" and tell him he must hate black coaches. lol.

Could it possibly be that through about 2.5 seasons at Texas, Strong is 13-16 at a traditional power that is expected to contend annually for a playoff position and Staples is actually right? And not a bigot/racist?

Classless by Texas AD and boosters basically they are saying that the job will be open in hopes that Herman doesn't take LSU job

I am not going to say classless... but I agree with the second part.

Wouldn't expect anything else from them. A "rogue" group of Texas boosters essentially offered a contract to Saban via Jimmy Sexton in 2013 before Mack Brown was even fired.

I'd think they'd let Herman know this through back channels rather than publicly though. Thinking they have a different motive. Not sure exactly what it is, but making this announcement publicly in the hopes that Herman won't take the LSU job doesn't quite seem legit.

Herman should just go ahead and buy a burnt orange polo and get a place in Austin. That's gonna happen.

Unless USC offers more money.

Being in Indiana and having a whole family full of Purdue fsns I can tell u Miles is on the Boiler Nations dream list but most know there is no way Purdue pays the $$ to get Miles. Word is Purdue is wanting Spack from Illinois State who has major Purdue ties or Fleck from Western Michigan.

Fleck would be a great hire for Purdue

Things To Expect:

* Chip Brown will report improper contact by Strong, and staff, with Devin & Donovan Devernay, JP Urquidez and Patrick Hudson before they were released from LOIs by Baylor.

* The powers that be at Bellmont Hall will be "shocked"...shocked I tell ya.

* AD Mike Perrin will "investigate" the allegations and report findings.

* Texas will self-impose minimal penalties and report findings to the NCAA

* Charlie Strong will be terminated with cause...Sorry Charlie, no $10m parting gift.

* Moral High Ground-Texas

or something like that.
