is every sin the same?

I think you attach too broad of a meaning to the term.

If you are referring to will, then I am not sure we agree about what it means.

Will can be used to denote want: God is not willing that any should perish = God does not want any to perish.

Will can be used to denote command: he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter = if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments

Will can be used to denote active participation: to whom God willed to make known = to whom God revealed knowledge

Does the Bible have a conversion chart in the back or something?

Yup, in mine it takes 6 takings of the Lord's name in vain to equal 1 murder, but it only takes 3 to equal theft, as long as what you steal is worth less than 14 shekels.

Some people actually believe some things like that. Not sure where they get it though...

Sweet then. I always thought adultery was a pretty bad sin, so I stayed away from it. Now, since I know its equal to telling my wife a white lie about how many golf holes I played, I think I may go get some new, and kill somebody on my way home.

Maybe you have that backwards. I think, maybe, instead of looking at adultery as being as 'minor' as a white lie, maybe you should look at lying as being as 'major' as adultery.

but didn't he tell the people who wrote it exactly what to put in it?

Jesus didn't tell anybody what to write. The New Testament is largely several different accounts of events that happened during the time Jesus was on Earth. Sin is sin. You are disobeying God when you sin. But, His grace gives you the opportunity for redemption and everlasting life.
