I’ve noticed the past few games where he’s moved a lot slower.

Seems like a lot of his aggressiveness just disappeared from last year.

I do remember him having COVID but not sure that’s the reason.

I’m not sure if we’ll get a definitive answer

But we know he had Covid before the season and we know he had mid-season surgery to extract wisdom teeth (which means you can’t eat for a few days. Comfortably anyway)

And we know his right wrist got hurt.

But other than those things, I think something is up. But don’t know for sure.

Absolutely. His right wrist is inured. I think he had a problem with a finger on his left hand. He had wisdom teeth surgery not long ago and he couldn’t eat solid food for a while and lost weight. There is speculation that he had COVID before the season began and it seemed like he had an injured back a couple of weeks ago. He’s been kind of a mess.

I've noticed that as well. There have been a lot of rumblings about him returning one more season. I honestly think it's his physicality that's been the main issue. Barnes has said several times throughout the season that Fulky got to small in the offseason. Fulky could have an Admiral kind of strength and conditioning offseason and have a big time last season. To Fulkersons max athletic ability that is haha

He's not the Incredible Fulk he was last season and it doesn't look like we'll ever see that John Fulkerson again.
Some of it may be injury, or something else that's going on with his health. But we also seem to not be running the offense through him nearly as much this year with the freshman. After watching last night it's probably best. But I still think we need more out of him if we want to make a run.

As others have noted, the wisdom teeth, alleged Covid contraction, and the wrist...to me, he just looks zapped of energy, stamina, and strength. Likely attributable to Covid exposure, lack of conditioning, nutrition, etc. He doesn't look right. The same guy who dominated a much better UK team to the tune of 27 points in Rupp, last year, had 0 points and 3 rebs, last night. Something is off.

We really can't afford to run thru him. He can't beat his man as consistently as before. He can't get position. He can't push theu the defense.

He also had some fingers taped up on his shooting hand. I haven’t looked to see if it’s still there.

He’s left handed and his surgically repaired wrist and arm is his right. I think he might have also been holding his left wrist in pain a few games back. I think Kesling mentioned a back issue... which can make it difficult to even walk.

That's what I am saying. We can't run it through him like we did last year. Don't need to. But we still need consistent production from him. We have nothing behind him, that's why need him to score, at least some.

Refs weren’t going to let him get going yesterday, but otherwise it looks like injuries have been holding him back.

The covid part could be really hurting him. It seems like it effects everyone differently. My daughter plays naia basketball and shes had it. She is still struggling to get back in shape.

Hopefully it isn't anything serious. Everyone wondered why Chris Lofton had struggled a little that year when it was later found out he had been fighting cancer. This Covid thing has really been different for individuals. My son had it. He had a temp one morning, went and got tested and found out 3 days later he was positive. He lost taste and smell the second day but the temp was gone. He actually ran 5 miles on day two and never missed a lick afterwards. On the other hand, my nurse at work got it and struggled a couple of months with weakness. Just pray all is well with John. He loves UT and has a lot of people that really think the world of him, both on and off the court.

When he missed that dunk and nearly broke his back and both legs on the landing he has not been the same.

Whatever it is, Fulky isn’t the same. Still a threat but the offense needs to push tempo and go through Springer and Johnson off the wings the rest of the way.

If Fulk comes back, next year and plays like he did last year, he will cement himself as a Vols basketball legend. I think he is just a folk legend, right now, but a 6th year return to Glory, it would be a beautiful thing.

But right now, it's time for the Keon and Jaden Show. Fulk and the rest of the rotation are the sidekicks, now. Hopefully James and Pons continue their upswing as the guys that do the dirty work, with about 25 points a game from that combo, as we go forward, in the season. I really feel like UT, especially the freshmen, turned a corner, last night and the offense is about to improve, greatly.

Glad we have Georgia next, too. I think we blow them out and carry this momentum that Ole Miss effed up
