Cowherd. That's all anyone needs to know.
Tennessee put a grip on Georgia talent all during the 90's and even early 00's I was listening to Knox Sportstalk (99.1?) the other day and even they wre saying how CPJ was making it a point to get into "north Georgia" and recruit...I think they really mean the Atlanta area, because north Georgia isn't a hot part of Georgia to recruit.
Atlanta is still considered North GA. Also for reference Rome,Dalton,Calhoun, Buford, Jefferson, Cartersville, and Adairsville all put out plenty of power 5 D1 Talent.
Short sighted? In the last 18 years, Richt had GA at 9 10+ win seasons, 2 SEC Championships, and 4 SECe division titles. Smart in his second year took GA to the CFNCG, with an SEC title.
That's a short-sighted view of a harmless opponent? So we have to go back 20+ years for a valid long-sighted view of Georgia?
Yeah and with all those 5 stars they haven't won squat...Last year they were loaded and still choked it away to Alabama...Not really concerned with them...They always find ways to lose.2016: 3 5-stars. #6 Class.
2017: 3 5-stars. #3 Class.
2018: 7 (not a typo) 5-stars. #1 Class.
2019: 5 5-stars. #2 Class (through July).
Colin Cowherd: An SEC Football Program Is Setting Itself Up For Sanctions Because Of Illegal Recruit
Kirby Smart is a fine football coach (even though Burch beat him in Athens), but Bear Bryant he ain't.
Is his arrival (December 12, 2015) the only thing that's changed?
They're still Georgia (harmless), but dang. IDK.

I get just looking at the states geography and calling Atlanta north Georgia, but it is treated very differently when referring to football recruiting. I live in north Georgia...and I can tell you that there isn't the amount of talent in those areas as you may think. Cartersville and Buford are considered Atlanta area, and produce; Buford moreso than C'ville. Jefferson is Athens area. Rome is north Ga and will produce good talent. Calhoun will get you an occasional mid major kid ( see Lamb at App state- yes I know Darick, but.....) But Adairsville would be a push to get called a P5 talent school on a good day; talent there, will go to Cartersville. North Georgia, Atlanta, Middle, South Georgia, Augusta area, West Georgia...some of them even go as far as to name specific counties because thos counties are loaded ( ie: Gwinett) that's how a lot of recruiters break down Georgia recruiting. Don't know if you live in Georgia or not and not trying to step on toes. so please don't be offended.....I just happened to talk about this very subject to a recruiter I know a few months ago.
I understand the talent is mainly closer to the metro area. Although the area's listed yearly put kids into D1 programs.
IKR, and our fans wonder why we are called ignorant by the rest of the SEC.
