Is Georgia Cheating

Any HC with half a brain could recruit to Georgia.

Elite talent is in their backyard every year.

Cowherd. That's all anyone needs to know.

Tennessee put a grip on Georgia talent all during the 90's and even early 00's I was listening to Knox Sportstalk (99.1?) the other day and even they wre saying how CPJ was making it a point to get into "north Georgia" and recruit...I think they really mean the Atlanta area, because north Georgia isn't a hot part of Georgia to recruit.
To the OP...I don't believe UGA is cheating, nor Bama, nor Tennessee. The talent is in Georgia to get and Kirby was always good at getting talent, hence why he was a good recruiter at Bama. Fulmer was a master recruiter and knew where the goods were all over the south, not to mention that Knoxville is a good town. That's just not in their DNA if you ask me. I honestly believe there is probably only one true "cheat" in the SEC left...... With that said, I always did believe Ole Miss cheated

Atlanta is still considered North GA. Also for reference Rome,Dalton,Calhoun, Buford, Jefferson, Cartersville, and Adairsville all put out plenty of power 5 D1 Talent.

Short sighted? In the last 18 years, Richt had GA at 9 10+ win seasons, 2 SEC Championships, and 4 SECe division titles. Smart in his second year took GA to the CFNCG, with an SEC title.

That's a short-sighted view of a harmless opponent? So we have to go back 20+ years for a valid long-sighted view of Georgia?

Quality post.

WoV strikes again.

Misnomer.

For years all we ever feared was Georgia getting a competent coach...

This is what happens when they get one

no border around Georgia recruiting hotbed...Coach Pruitt is making some noise there and he'll probably get better at it...and,

GO VOLS!

2016: 3 5-stars. #6 Class.
2017: 3 5-stars. #3 Class.
2018: 7 (not a typo) 5-stars. #1 Class.
2019: 5 5-stars. #2 Class (through July).

Colin Cowherd: An SEC Football Program Is Setting Itself Up For Sanctions Because Of Illegal Recruit

Kirby Smart is a fine football coach (even though Burch beat him in Athens), but Bear Bryant he ain't.
Is his arrival (December 12, 2015) the only thing that's changed?

They're still Georgia (harmless), but dang. IDK.
Yeah and with all those 5 stars they haven't won squat...Last year they were loaded and still choked it away to Alabama...Not really concerned with them...They always find ways to lose.

So going 11-1 in the regular season, winning the SEC title by avenging your only regular season loss, and losing by 3 to a 12-1 Alabama during overtime in the CFBNCG, is choking it away?

IKR, and our fans wonder why we are called ignorant by the rest of the SEC.

This shortsighted response was anticipated.
Historically, UGA is harmless.
[Beating a 4-8 team that quit after Florida is not worth much.]

Yeah because everyone going into that game around here was talking about how we've quit and how UGA was going to murder us.

I get just looking at the states geography and calling Atlanta north Georgia, but it is treated very differently when referring to football recruiting. I live in north Georgia...and I can tell you that there isn't the amount of talent in those areas as you may think. Cartersville and Buford are considered Atlanta area, and produce; Buford moreso than C'ville. Jefferson is Athens area. Rome is north Ga and will produce good talent. Calhoun will get you an occasional mid major kid ( see Lamb at App state- yes I know Darick, but.....) But Adairsville would be a push to get called a P5 talent school on a good day; talent there, will go to Cartersville. North Georgia, Atlanta, Middle, South Georgia, Augusta area, West Georgia...some of them even go as far as to name specific counties because thos counties are loaded ( ie: Gwinett) that's how a lot of recruiters break down Georgia recruiting. Don't know if you live in Georgia or not and not trying to step on toes. so please don't be offended.....I just happened to talk about this very subject to a recruiter I know a few months ago.

I understand the talent is mainly closer to the metro area. Although the area's listed yearly put kids into D1 programs.

No kidding...and coming from a fanbase that would have built Butch a statue, named a street after him, and given him a lifetime contract had UT managed to win a pathetic SEC East in '16.

But UGA hasn't accomplished anything and is harmless? OK.

To a degree you are right. You're right and I agree to a point. Buford, Jefferson, both have been football factories. Cartersville and Rome would be a bit behind; Rome is a sleeping giant that has been awakened. Great coaching staff there...former Tennessee Titan coaching the OL even. Adairsville HS not so much...no real history there and the ballers go to C'ville. Then Calhoun would be at the tail end. Pruitt knows where the talent is at thought, you can bet your bottom dollar. He will be around those Lowndes area schools, Houston & Peach counties, Lagrange and some of those south regions where Brentwood Academy or Maryville would be lucky to finish 6-4 every year. But he also knows high school talent is cyclical and the hot school last year and this year may be the 2-8 team next year. Pruitt has good recruiters on staff and contacts in a lot of those places to get him in the door and now he has to hope he has put together the right staff and win some games.

Of course UGA is cheating. So is Alabama, and Auburn, and LSU, and Florida, and brace yourself, so is Tennessee. That's how the recruiting game works. Some are better at it than others.

Then we are not very good at cheating. Need to step up our game lol

Not when everyone else is doing the same things. They're just better at it right now. To successfully cheat, you have to be Smart...I know, sounds odd.
