Is it better if Florida beats KY?

who do we want to play in the semi's? Florida or Vandy? I would think think Florida but not sure which one would help our RPI more. I really think the team doesn't care. They just won't to beat whoeva whereeva wheneva howeva.

both probably help (i think both are up there in the RPIs)

UF likely....wouldnt hurt that the scenario for that to happen would mean they'd have to beat the #1 team, meaning their ranking probably goes up and their RPI would jump higher (i think....not fully familiar with RPIs)

All im saying, is if you forced to pick a game that KY had to lose, it would be now. I want to go into the NCAA T on a winning note. If we lose during the SEC T, it takes away our momentum.
Already told you, Cats won't lose another game this year. buck up!!

Dont be surprised if we lose it. I think all UK fans would agree they would rather lose @ UF than in the NCAA T.

I for one wouldn't be surprised. Florida lives and dies by the 3 and if they get hot and get it rolling, even a team as talented as UK would have trouble winning swapping 2's for 3's. That said, I fully expect UK to win.

If we're the 2 seed we will play the winner of Ole Miss/Auburn. (2-0 vs Miss and Barn)
If we're the 3 seed we will play the winner of UGA/Miss. St. (1-2 vs UGA and MSU)

Take your pick.

Toss up. The 2 losses were on the road, and before UT had hit its stride. I personally think getting Miss St and beating them pretty good does more for UT.

I think 3 seed would be better for us...

Get a shot at a bubble team in miss st, that would be a good win.

We better just win at least two games, regardless of the seeding. If we fail to do that we are definitely not going to the NCAA tournament.

I prefer Florida wins

That matches us up with miss st and a chance to show we are more deserving than them

Miss St is the 5th team from the SEC to be in line for a NCAA birth. If there a bubble team, And where a bubble team. I don't see how the committee could take them over us square in the face of us putting them out of the SEC tourny. Couple that with a chance to beat Florida a 3rd time with their Higher RPI after beating Kentucky, And that seems to be the best scenario for us to get in.

No way!

2nd game vs miss st is our best option for a statement game

No. As you saw today w a win over vandy, it's not going to improve our RPI that much. Also, msu isn't much a "statement" win. We swept Florida and just beat vandy. Msu doesn't even register

Miss st is in the tourney, an early sec exit at our hands may hurdle us in over then.

Very simple theory...they are a bubble team ole miss is not. Beating a bubble tean is much better than beating a potential nit team.

Who's rpi is higher ole miss or miss st???Edit: ole miss is after tonight

I still think a win over a bubble team is better for us

Doesn't matter. Our signature win would be in the semi final. That's the game that matters. If we don't get there we def aren't going to the dance. I dont care who we have to beat to get there

Would beating Vandy again (what'd have to happen if UK wins) really be a signature win then?

Exactly. And knocking off a bubble team in miss at would be better than a NIT team in ole miss.

Say we are on opposite side as miss st. They win 2 games and we win 2 games. That still leaves miss st in the tourney IMO.

If we knock them out in 2nd game though, we probably knock then out of tourney.

Agree to disagree I guess

It'd be more to brag about than beating MSU.

MSU is talented and I personally don't want to take my chances vs them in our first SEC game. They have the talent to beat anyone in the SEC on a given night, but could also lose to anyone. I don't want to roll the dice. I'll take Ole Miss. I guarantee the difference it makes on the committee would be negligible.

Plus there are definitely advantages to playing earlier than the team you face in the next round - particularly for scouting purposes

i was more comparing it to playing UF in the semis; it was why I put the if UK wins note in there...but I can see I could have been clearer

UF fans say there is no way they will win because of that injury to a star player - dont expect Calipari to take his foot off the gas pedal at any time ---

Forgot about that injury. I hope UK doesn't let up and cost us the 2 seed.
