Is it the quarterback or the wide receivers?

Both. I only remember seeing one throw that was dropped and was in the numbers (the one where Milton scrambled to the left side and made a pretty pass on the sidelines, I don't recall the receiver) but most of those throws are 100 mph, too high, or behind. Still, these receivers are talented enough to come up with some of those plays. BM made a nice catch on what looked like an underthrow in the middle of the field.

Good grief, this has been sliced, diced, and beat to death. Folks should read some of the other gabillion threads that hammered this nail. we get it. Time to move on.

"There's a reason Hooker is a 6 year senior that's pulled out of every season he's played" signed, Hendon Hooker!
This. He's still thrown for 429 yards going 42/63 (66.6%) with 4 Tds and rushed for 40 yds with 3 tds on the ground. and that's with at least 11 drops where the ball hit the WR/TE/RB square in the hands.

Everyone is freaking out because he's not putting up video game numbers from the jump. He hasn't really had to play lights out yet. The running game has been pretty dominant, so that takes the pressure off too.

I think we see the offense take the next step this Saturday. And if they don't, I still don't think Heup benches Joe unless he gets hurt anyway. So I'm going to give Heup and Co the benefit of the doubt until they prove me wrong.

We all have legitimate doubts about whether Milton can be a high level QB. Those questions have not yet been answered.

But, he earned the starting position. His team is 2-0 with two comfortable wins. And it would be ridiculously dumb to pull him now.

Plus, I’m not sure Nico could physically make it through the pounding of a full SEC season yet. He looks very slim.

We were never going 12-0 this season. So lets chill and give Joe a fair shot to see what he has against a conference foe this weekend. This game will tell us a lot.

Oh, and in case anyone else is wondering; HH in the first 2 games last year, threw 45-67 for 547 yards (67.1%)(got some of those yards and a TD in overtime) and rushed for 2 TDs.

EVERYONE complained how bad the defense was last year and NOW they are better. The offense numbers are the same (overall, less passing yards/way better yard per carry)

In case we all forgot, you Win SEC titles with great defense, a good kicking game and a good offense that doesn't turn the ball over!!!!! We are so close!!!!!

Lots of folks using it to take shots at a guy they didn't like to start with.
Anyone with any football knowledge could tell on the first drive that the Vols overlooked AP... Pileing on Milton they way these people have is sad. He is what 16 tds no ints on 220 plus attempts... That iis mpressive

This is a discussion board, log out if you do not like it!
For sure. We don’t need to call for NEGAS opinions to be prohibited, but to reply and call out they’re over the top trust in their own ability to accurately assign root cause of a play’s failure. Arrogance is what it is and brazen does not make it better. Coach has gone out of his way to share the responsibility of the bad plays. I will go with that.

Both. Also it’s the gameplan of not showing anything. Likely they’ve been preparing for several weeks for the swamp lizards. If Joe looks bad in that game we have severe problems.

I cannot overstate how important it is to beat Florida. It severely would damage them and their recruiting class. Likely would also sound the end of the Napier era although they’re married to that guy for at least a couple more years. If Florida somehow wins and retains those recruits in this class it will set them up to be way more competitive in the future. This is as bad a Florida team as we’ve played in the Swamp in several decades. Have to get a win.

Lmao. I have wisely avoided the FF since the game because i knew there would be garbage like this thread here.

"Legions of the Miserable" are eternally present.

There were several drops of over 15 yard passes that could have gone deep if not to the endzone..the commentators even replayed 3 deep dropped passes in the 1st half. Plus the fumble by Keyton...the same Keyton that dropped a 50plus yard sure thing TD that hit him in the hands last week. Traveled over 50 in the air, would have been a 70plus yard TD if he made the routine catch on that deep post.

Joe has 7 total TDs in 2 games. Is completing 67% of his passes and has still NEVER thrown an INT in a VOLS jersey. 2nd longest streak in the country without a pick.

I had HOPED when reading the preseason VN polls on what everyone thought our record would be this season and seeing most folks pick the same as me (9-3 season likely bowl win for 10-3) that the expectations would be reasonable this year. Apparently I was wrong.

We were never going 12-0 this season. Never. We lost an NFL QB, our best 2 NFL receivers, a top 10 draft pick Left Tackle, another lineman to the Chiefs etc etc. We dont have the 4 consecutive top5 classes that UGA.y has or Bama has to be able to lose those 5 players to the NFL at the MOST important positions on the field...and still be able to win it all the next season. We are not there yet. Nobody with a brain could ever logically expect us to be there 2 games into the 3rd season under ANY COACH EVER versus the teams on our current schedule.

Relax people. You make us all look stupid crying about our team when we are 2-0 in a rebuilding year with a journeyman QB. Seriously. I am thankful that I dont suffer the misery that is eternal unreasonable expectations. That is surely a miserable plight.

Next season the playoffs expand to 12 teams. We will be deeper and more talented on both sides of the ball in pretty much every position. We will be young on both lines but very deep. We should make the playoffs next season and challenge for a title in 2025 at the latest. The future is very, very bright at UT. To be pitching a fit right now is to be a toddler throwing a tantrum. After the last 20 years of garbage it amazes me that some here are apparently upset with our current team. I find it hilarious honestly.

But Hendon performed at Tennessee. If you think you can mention Hooker and Milton in the same sentence you’re either just a homer or you’re delusional.
