Is it the quarterback or the wide receivers?

But Hendon performed at Tennessee. If you think you can mention Hooker and Milton in the same sentence you’re either just a homer or you’re delusional.
Why are you trying to compare ? They are two different players. Milton is not Hooker, he also doesn't have Hyatt. Everyone was pissed he skipped the bowl game and saying this and that about some current receivers being better yayayaya.... Turns out no one currently playing has the skills he had either. Love Squirrel, but he simply isn't giving the production at this point. See how easy it is to twist and sway a narrative ? I think we will be fine. However these guys have to gel and figure out what this team is best at. Bru is a monster and we should use him more, guys have to catch the ball and Milton has to get it to them. Enjoy the season we only are guaranteed 10 more.

Lmao. I have wisely avoided the FF since the game because i knew there would be garbage like this thread here.

"Legions of the Miserable" are eternally present.

There were several drops of over 15 yard passes that could have gone deep if not to the endzone..the commentators even replayed 3 deep dropped passes in the 1st half. Plus the fumble by Keyton...the same Keyton that dropped a 50plus yard sure thing TD that hit him in the hands last week. Traveled over 50 in the air, would have been a 70plus yard TD if he made the routine catch on that deep post.

Joe has 7 total TDs in 2 games. Is completing 67% of his passes and has still NEVER thrown an INT in a VOLS jersey. 2nd longest streak in the country without a pick.

I had HOPED when reading the preseason VN polls on what everyone thought our record would be this season and seeing most folks pick the same as me (9-3 season likely bowl win for 10-3) that the expectations would be reasonable this year. Apparently I was wrong.

We were never going 12-0 this season. Never. We lost an NFL QB, our best 2 NFL receivers, a top 10 draft pick Left Tackle, another lineman to the Chiefs etc etc. We dont have the 4 consecutive top5 classes that UGA.y has or Bama has to be able to lose those 5 players to the NFL at the MOST important positions on the field...and still be able to win it all the next season. We are not there yet. Nobody with a brain could ever logically expect us to be there 2 games into the 3rd season under ANY COACH EVER versus the teams on our current schedule.

Relax people. You make us all look stupid crying about our team when we are 2-0 in a rebuilding year with a journeyman QB. Seriously. I am thankful that I dont suffer the misery that is eternal unreasonable expectations. That is surely a miserable plight.

Next season the playoffs expand to 12 teams. We will be deeper and more talented on both sides of the ball in pretty much every position. We will be young on both lines but very deep. We should make the playoffs next season and challenge for a title in 2025 at the latest. The future is very, very bright at UT. To be pitching a fit right now is to be a toddler throwing a tantrum. After the last 20 years of garbage it amazes me that some here are apparently upset with our current team. I find it hilarious honestly.

Wish I could give more than one "Like." I think we have 2-3, 13 year adolescents posting in this thread.......

I was just doing an experiment to see how quickly people would argue in a thread about not arguing. Success.

Funny, every Huepel game he’s ever coached, he’s aired it out, even against creampuffs, and has never held anything back.

LOL, now all of a sudden, he’s saving his playbook for Florida, who everyone agreed after the Utah game that they were terrible, and we were going the smash them in the Swamp.

👌

Only thing I actually disagree with. If Milton plays at the level he's capable of with this running game and the apparent improvements on D... then they have a good shot at beating anyone they play including UGA.

Likely? No. "Never"? No.

On deep shots being available and who/whom was at fault on offense for struggles CJH summed it up perfectly at the presser:

“The deep, over-the-top shots were not (there), but there were some things in the middle of the football field that were wide open that we did not execute it. Bru caught a nice deep dig in the second half on a drive we had going. Those were things that were open early in the football game.” “I mean, we threw some of them, too, and we missed them on the throw. We dropped a couple. We got a shot downfield and we busted protection, too. Offensive football — and defensively, too — but offensive football, you’ve got to have 11 guys operate at a really high level and do their jobs. They’ve got to operate as one. We’re capable of being better than we were tonight. But I’ve got trust and belief in these guys, for sure.”

Both were guilty of not executing. We are a long way from "wide receiver U"

Please don't use that expression again this season. Let's see what happens next season in that regard.

Both. I only remember seeing one throw that was dropped and was in the numbers (the one where Milton scrambled to the left side and made a pretty pass on the sidelines, I don't recall the receiver) but most of those throws are 100 mph, too high, or behind. Still, these receivers are talented enough to come up with some of those plays. BM made a nice catch on what looked like an underthrow in the middle of the field.

It’s hard to catch a ball that is coming w heat and thrown behind you. It looks easier on TV but in person you can tell how difficult it is. Joe has to become more accurate. He about got one receiver broken in half on a throw that was over the head of the player.

Personally i think Heup is concerned throwing over the middle as the field is more crowded and susceptible to a pick, esp when the WB throws it over the WR’ head. The sideline routes are much higher percentage plays but good defenses will stop.

It’s difficult for a team to march 75-80 yards without a splash play as penalties and other mistakes stop drives.

You make a good argument there for going ahead and letting a future NFL QB who we'll only have for 3 seasons get some seasoning and experience now instead of having to break him in next year when all the other stars will be lined up for a playoff run. Hopefully, Joe has a decent game, the Vols beat UF, and all these discussions go away.

...and 12 years of Tennessee fans blaming EVERYTHING on the starting QB
So who’s fault is it when he over throws and behind the receivers? Don’t get me wrong, there were some drops and big time receivers make big time catches but if you think for one minute the passing game displayed last Saturday is going to cut it, you’re fooling yourself. I know Joe can do it, but Joe has to know he can do it. He’s got PTSD from multiple failed starts which is understandable. Either he his or he ain’t. We’ll see Saturday.

I’ve noticed something with Milton that is different from Hooker… I went back and watched HH’s postgame after Georgia from last year. His statements were all “I” or “We” statements. He took ownership of this team. When I listened to Milton’s postgame on Saturday, it was full of “You” statements. “You gotta do this” and “You gotta keep grinding”… That type of thing. Perhaps I’m completely nitpicking, but Milton just doesn’t seem to have that ownership factor that good leaders have. Just my opinion, and I could be completely wrong.

You're stretching. Using the word "You" is talking about yourself in this case. Joe is a team first guy.

Here's a question, if Milton doesn't work out would he be the first QB1 CJH has had that couldn't be developed?

Oh I 100% believe that Milton is a great teammate. I don’t think he is selfish at all. And I probably am stretching. But what I was referring to is how Joe internally deals with negative things as opposed to Hendon. There was a study a few years back that basically said that people who use “you” in the second person could be trying to insulate themselves from traumatic or negative things in their life. Again, I’m probably 100% wrong on this, but I think it’s interesting.

When I Say "You" But Really Mean "Me"
