Is Jordan McRae player of the year in the SEC?

Marshall Henderson shove it. I hate that guy.

Hate him or not, he still leads the SEC in scoring by almost 2 points per game. He definitely has shot his team out of some games too. I doubt he would ever win, just because of his attitude, but he has to be in the conversation.

He only leads scoring because he throws up 25 shots a game.

Noel if was healthy. Turner if was consistent. Caldwell-Pope if he was on a decent team. McRae if he had more hype.

Honestly no idea.

Like I said, he shoots them out of games.

He is like a poor mans Jimmer Fredette. (I dont like Henderson either, by the way.)

We may not like him as a person, but he can get on a hot streak and steal a win from the jaws of defeat.

Henderson is terrible. He is not a contender for the award. If we go by your logic, Hopson should have gotten it twice, and he's the best player we've had since Bernard King.

All I did was list a few players I thought were in contention for the award. My "Logic" is he scorched our ass to the tune of 32 and 28 points. He leads the SEC in scoring. I do not like the guy, he does lose them some games, but he would have to be in the top 5 or 10 for the award. I agree that there are a few players I would put before him. I dont think opposing teams gameplan specifically for players that are "Horrible".

In any case, I don't think that any reasonable person is going to actually piece together the sentence "Marshall Henderson is the most valuable player of the SEC."

Lol sounds like the punchline to a joke.

I get what you're saying though. He definitely would be a contender if his shot attempts weren't so high. He gets enough steals and assists as a SG to be considered excellent if his percentage were around 45 or AT LEAST above 40 lol.

If McCrae jacked up as many shots as that D-Bag from Ole Miss he probably would win it going away.

I think it will come down to O'Bryant and Turner. Though if JM had been scoring all year like he has the last 5 games, I dont think the race would be close.

It's player of the year not most valuable player though isn't it? I mean then again where is ole miss without Henderson? I hate the guy as much as anyone but his scoring numbers are impressive, anyway you spin it. You rarely find a volume shooter in college who's fg% is weaker than his peers, it's just usually a natural trend for guards, the more you shoot the lower the %.

Now, do I think he should get it, eh probably not and I don't believe he will, but IMO he should definitely be in the discussion.

I really don't think he helps Ole Miss that much. Yeah, he has the ability to, and he has, but it's just a big number-f*** with him. Shoot up enough, and something will go in. I think they would be better and still leading the SEC if you replace Henderson with another guard of equal talent, but shoots about 5 less shots per game. You replace Henderson with almost any other SEC guard, it's an upgrade. I won't even say he's the best player, most valuable, or player of the year for Ole Miss.

Well with no Henderson last year they weren't dancing and didn't look nearly as impressive...this year they're very likely dancing. Shooters have bad nights, he's had some, but he single handily won them the Vandy game too...and probably both games against us.

It's not like his percentages are garbage, 3 point percentages are right there with McRae, the difference is in fg%. Without looking, I'm guess majority of Henderson's shots are 3s which causes his total fg% to be lower than a guy who gets a lot of looks inside the arc or at the rim like Jordan.

The thought of Hubbs + Maymon w/ Stokes and McRae coming into their own is really exciting.

Hopefully we can make a run this year, but we could be elite next season.

Unfortunately for Jarnell and Jordan, it's Player of the YEAR, not player of the Month or anything like that. They are 2 of the hottest players in the SEC, Trae along with them. I really REALLY thing Jordan should get it. He has just been doing things at the right times recently, and I believe he's the reason we're here. Jarnell is a huge reason, and Trae is definitely a huge reason, but Jordan has been the most consistent, IN MY OPINION out of those 3. It's been a LONG time since I've seen a player with such a deadly mid range game. He reminds me a lot of J.P. Prince, except he can shoot as well, but my comparisons are in body style and athleticism.

If Henderson gets it, throw the damn award away. Turner deserves it as much as anyone else. I think it comes down to Turner and Jordan, but I think Jordan edges him out. There are 3 games left though, and anything can happen. If Jordan puts up 30 or 40 in a game somehow, I think he has a very good shot at taking over that top spot convincingly.

J Mac has reminded me of Scotty Thurman, the past month and a half. Their frame is similar and so are their style of game...

But Jordan has been playing consistent for most of the year. Right now and all of conference he's been there. He's not going to get it but he's likely runner up and will get a lot of consideration next year

Style of play maybe, but Thurman had about 30-35 pounds on McRae. Their builds are quite different as I remember.
