Is Joshua Dobbs the new Ryan Fitzpatrick?

The usual ,apparently, negative post. I'm seeing a trend here on a certain posters entries recently. We knew he wasnt starting yet. Coach said rookie is. They need to let Dobbs get up to speed as soon as possible for the long run.
My F'ing Goodness! There wasn't any negativity. I was just stating a fact. The Vikings made the announcement about their current backup becoming the starter and Dobbs coming in as the backup. Grow up. There was no slight

Passing accuracy was Dobb’s Achilles Heel in college. Still has the same issue. Great athlete, super intelligent, and certainly a great teammate.
I love to see him continue to get paid for playing, but unless he has a tremendous hot streak with Minnasota, I don’t see him signing a long term big money contract. I still pull for him to excel. He definitely was a QB for Tenn who made the entire team better.
In support of your statement, I received a FF email this morning with this statement about Dobbs:

Unlike FitzMagic, Dobbs hasn’t shown he can win games in the NFL. Until he can string some wins together there’s no comparison

Justin Jefferson has a ton of influence in Minnesota.
Once he's back and if Dobbs shows he can consistently get him the football while making plays with his legs....watch out!
That leads to a winning formula.

Dobbs has never had Jefferson, and Addison at WR.
Look what he did at UT when he had Malone and Jennings.

I am very pleased that Josh Dobbs is getting a starting opportunity with a highly talented team around him. Looking at the past few moves, Dobbs was sought out by teams to start where their starter was unavailable. This reminds me of Ryan Fitzpatrick's transactions, with the exception being Buffalo who signed him with the intention of him being a long term starting solution. Both men are incredibly intelligent AND possess tremendous leadership qualities. As Fitz magic had a tremendous career, earning $82 M over a seventeen years, I potentially see a similar path for Dobbs. If he maximizes his opportunity with a very talented group in Minnesota, I'm sure a team will throw a generous contract his way. Jimmy Garoppolo is currently making $25 M annually on a three year deal. Dobbs should easily demand a similar figure if he finds success with the Vikings. After that, who knows? Fitz certainly did very well for himself. I see Dobbs following suit.

Blast from the past... Article explains NFL scouts questioning Dobbs intelligence 🤣 🤣 🤣

Dobbs will always be a Groomsman.

IF Dobbs shines, it could make the Vikings pass on re-signing a damaged Cousins. Consider they only signed Cousins to a 1-yr. contract going into this season after he led the Vikings to 13 wins and the division title. The 36 year old Cousins carries a cap hit of over $20M. The Vikes are 4-4 this season. IF Dobbs gets them to the playoffs, Cousins might be out.

Can't compare the college game to the NFL

The past two seasons Josh has been traded to the two teams he has started for with only about one week to prepare playing one of the hardest positions in all of sports before being thrown into games. Now he’ll probably have to do it again with the Vikings.

The fact that Josh had done as well as he had with the cardinals is remarkable

You are going out of your way in all of the Dobbs threads to say you don’t think he has the skill set to make it. We get it After 100 posts of saying the same thing. You aren’t going to influence me having hope that he will exceed expectations.

I have hope too. My hope is that he can land with a perennial power who will make him a permanent backup for a multi-year deal instead of bouncing from emergency deals for a few games.

Dobbs is such a class act for our beloved University of Tennessee. In his first locker room interview among a throng of reporters in front of his locker, he must have mentioned Univ. Tenn Vols at least 3 or 4 times relating to the notion of "that is who he is" and how he interacted with the Viking TE Hockenson at the Nashville training complex TEnds were using in July. He also said that he was leaning on Theo Jackson and Ty Chandler - former Vols - to get him up to speed on the Viking culture. He is just all about his roots and his connections. Great communicator and leader and although the Vikes are now taking about signing a damaged Cousins to a more modest deal as KC returns from an achilles rehab, Dobbs finally, finally could get a chance to work with a legit team around him to show out. This of course if the BYU rookie qb doesnt prevent that from happening. I know his accuracy is being questioned...…but lets see what he does when a better O Line is in front of him. Let's see, and Lets Go!
