I really think it's more than just a selling point. In one of his interviews with Kesling, Kiffin mentioned that this year he does not recruit based on the "quotas" on each position; instead, he is trying to bring the best players in.

I could not remember his exact quotes, but by the time I heard of this I really feel like he's absolutely unsatisfied with the overall talent we have. He also seemed to think that to start as many freshmen as we could is imminent and required.

Of course, he'd never say anything bad about our current players explicitly......

What he has said is that the players we have now better prove themselves in the spring because in the fall he wants to see what the new guys can do so they will get more reps.
