Is mcbee really our best 3 point shooter?

If CCM draws up a play at the end of the game for a 3 right now, it's to McBee. That's the only thing that counts really.
You also have to look at pg's and inside game. If any player were to have a player like A Davis or a more mature Stokes inside, and a penetrating pg, %'s go up.

Well, if he's spot up open then he is a decent 3 pt shooter. If he has to move one inch with the basketball, then he's atrocious. Set a pick for him to get open then shoot, he'll miss everytime. Shoulders square, feet set, no hand in your face, then maybe one of the best in the SEC as Quinn would put it, but otherwise I do not think he's a great 3 pt shooter at all. A specialist as they say, not.

I like how Quinn says how much better we were when McBee was incerted as a starter in the final 12 games of the season. I guess adding STOKES didn't have anything to do with that. Quinn starting to lose a little credibility with me.

Last year he was our best pure shooter and probably will be this year. He is not a good contested shooter, nor is he good when having to create his shot. But, in terms of purely shooting the ball, he's our best. That is really an indictment of the shooting skills of the rest of the team than a compliment to McBee.

I just wish he shot nearly as well away as he does at home. That has very little to do with him moving, or contested shots or not...it's mainly the same shots...but a huge difference in home/away.

:no:He is NOWHERE even close to being a PURE SHOOTER! Far from it!!

He hardly misses in practice. Games are different for a lot of players. He just doesn't have a quick release and is little threat to dribble penetrate, and when you are 6'2, it makes it difficult to be a pure shooter with a 6'5 wing closing out on you.

I seen him fake, duck, slide and nail a 3.....sometimes his shot gets altered because bigger more athletic guys, bet he'd beat you in horse

Maybe, I bet I could get into his head though. Yell BOOO right when he's fixing to shoot and I might have a chance.

Maybe he'll do well in the HORSE Chamionships, and I'll pull for him.

Since I don't know if they have that, I want him to hit the 3 when some dude is covering him.

I'd say Golden for consistency's sake. Mcbee's solid to good from 3, just lacks consistency. Here's hoping he hits quite a few more this season.

One would think with our offensive philosophy with CCM, McBee would find himself in more wide open/catch and shoot situations compared to CBP's stand around/Flex where he'd have to attempt to create a shot.

The key is to figure out if he can actually catch and shoot or if his sole purpose is to hit wide open jumpers. Lots of good HS shooters out there who can hit wide open looks. Catch and shoot is a horse of a different color.

well we really haven't had a pg that can break the d down off the dribble, draw and kick. And, though we did have a 17 yr old Stokes, we really haven't had a big man that requires a double team and opens up the kickout.

The more basketball talent we get, the more open shots.

If I need someone to take a three for the tie/win, I'd go to Golden because A) His release is quicker. B) He can pull up for three.

Just the fact that y'all are discussing him at all means he a heck of alot better than any of us thought he would ever be!!!! Good for him!!! He has improved every year so hope he can make one more jump!!

The same way if it's mcbee I'm in your grill and making you put the ball on the floor.

This is why we need Hubbs.

I'm penetrating and kicking or running mcbee off a series of screens, including Stokes, to get him a 3. Much harder to defend than a pullup in that situation. He won't be dribbling to free himself up, unless its a pump fake with a rhythm dribble.
I'd take trae with a spot up as well, but somebody has to be in charge with the ball.
