Is McCain inching towards Pawlenty?

Really, even if it is Rice?

If they pick an African American running mate it will be looked at as a reaction to Obama's grip on the African American vote. It won't do a lot of good IMO and will lend some credence to the lefts claim that McCain would be a vote for Bush's third term. It would hurt as much as help IMHO.

It might be smart for vote getting, but it would make me more concerned about voting McCain. She is so overblown.

He'll be painted as a sell-out. Again.

You're being generous. Steele was already painted as an Uncle Tom by one Barack Obama in the Maryland senate race.

However, Steele isn't a coward, and he sees right through Obama.

Who Steele? Could be. But you couldn't play up the other angle.

Sure - Steele has a questionable history of accepting GOP "consulting" fees. And I think that would fuel the good ol boy mentality of "if you can't pursuade 'em, buy 'em".

then you haven't been paying attention

Oh sure, she has already been pasted nationally as a traitor to African-Americans, I just don't think it would be an issue again. As BPV said, she's been in the White House long enough.
