He's got to be a hard-nosed guy with his nebraska background. Would be a good hire, but surely a long shot. I like Strong's credents but we need hard-nosed, smart and a passion to kick a$$ in the SEC.

I would be more disgusted with that hire than any name I've heard. Hes a complete d-bag.

Bo Pelini would come after Gundy, Strong, and Fedora on my list. Unfortunately, nobody cares about my list.

He took a ranked team last week and got smoked by 40 pts by an unranked Wisconsin team, coached by Arkansas' new coach. So no...

Hey guys, long time husker fan, new to the board. raised here in Lincoln, NE however my parents had lived in murfreesboro for some time. Demos' restaurant is soooo good and my mom actually worked there way back in the day. Anyways i'm not here to troll or anything but there are lots of rumors around here about Bo REACHING out to Tennessee. In the beginning it was being reported that TN was talking to him, but that faded away, not speculation is that he is reaching out to them. You can base all you want from the last game, but Bo is a good coach, i'd hate to see him leave but he is just not happy here. The media are a bunch of ass hats here, and the we Nebraska fans obviously act like it's the end of the world if we lose a game (you can imagine how it was after the CCG) In any case, Bo produces a great D every year, with the players he has, we all knew at the beginning of the year our D wasn't our strong suit and he still did fine minus the tOSU game and Wisconsin, it seems like when we get down early and they find something that works, we do a poor job of making adjustments. Also Bo has won 9 or more wins for 4 years in a row, which is one of only 4 coaches to do in NCAA D1. Just thought i'd share whats been going around

I've got no problem going after a prick who just got curb-stomped by Arky's new hire...should return us to the top in no time..

Well, do you want him or Butch Jones , because those are your choices.

If he comes here I hope he doesn't bring his DC with him...By the way welcome to the board Huskers...As you can see We are a very passionate and sometimes unrealistic fan base as well...This crap is killing us lol

I'd say to see Pelini and what he would do here, we should all watch the Cap One bowl...

If they win then I will eat my words about my dislike of his coaching style.

If they are blown out (as I honestly suspect they will be), then just be prepared for that to be the result of our games against Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas (now), and maybe even USCe every single year until he is fired 3 years later.

I know we're desperate..and I'm not a blow-hard negavol, it's just hard for me to stomach that this job is that undesirable. It makes more sense to me that our pursuit of our "top" candidates was a bit underwhelming...

I don't have the answer, but in my opinion neither of those guys is the right guy for our Vols

Our D cord was promoted from D line last year. That was the big problem. Bo is promoting people within our program already rather than reaching out and hiring good D and O coordinators. Tim Beck was promoted to O cord, and he has been doing fine, but John Papuchis on the other hand has been struggling. Also i can tell this is killing you all! We had to deal with the Callahan years which pretty much F'd everything up including our NCAA record most bowl appearances in a row. The big problem with Bo so far is that he hasn't been able to show he can win big games. He sets us up for great success but always falls a little bit short.

Not a Pelini fan, but I'd take him over Butch Jones everyday of the week.

I thought Butch Jones took the Colorado job, am I wrong about that? When Pellini was at LSU I think there were a lot who wanted him after Phil. He is probably better than anyone else who hasn't already turned us down. Hell... there are even people who are preemptively turning us down before they have even been approached...like Kirby Smart. And he was supposed to be our shoe-in next year after Dooley had his four years. Whole thing is a cluster.

He's never won less than 9 games. Yeah he got blown out. It happens. That shouldn't be the reason to not hire him.
