Hey guys, long time husker fan, new to the board. raised here in Lincoln, NE however my parents had lived in murfreesboro for some time. Demos' restaurant is soooo good and my mom actually worked there way back in the day. Anyways i'm not here to troll or anything but there are lots of rumors around here about Bo REACHING out to Tennessee. In the beginning it was being reported that TN was talking to him, but that faded away, not speculation is that he is reaching out to them. You can base all you want from the last game, but Bo is a good coach, i'd hate to see him leave but he is just not happy here. The media are a bunch of ass hats here, and the we Nebraska fans obviously act like it's the end of the world if we lose a game (you can imagine how it was after the CCG) In any case, Bo produces a great D every year, with the players he has, we all knew at the beginning of the year our D wasn't our strong suit and he still did fine minus the tOSU game and Wisconsin, it seems like when we get down early and they find something that works, we do a poor job of making adjustments. Also Bo has won 9 or more wins for 4 years in a row, which is one of only 4 coaches to do in NCAA D1. Just thought i'd share whats been going around
If you look just at the data and not at his most recent game (1 game people), he would be a very good hire.
49-18 record. Never won less than 9 games.
DC at LSU and had the number 3 defense in the land. Beat us in 2007. Also, helped nab some great recruiting classes while at LSU so he knows the land.
Ok, I had mentioned weeks ago I thought Pelini would be a good option and of course I caught alot of hell when his Nebraska team was lit up this last game. When apparently he contacted UT with interest in the job I did a little more reading on him. ANYONE who thought Charlie Strong was a good option, Pelini destroys him in resume. Strong is 24-14 in the Big East. Pelini is 49-19 in the Big12/10. Pelini finished 1st in his division 4/5 years. He went 3-2 in bowl games. He has had 9 or 10 wins EVERY season he has coached. "Strong has SEC ties people say". Pelini was the DC at LSU for 3 years. His defenses were ranked #9, #5, and #20 in the country those years. He was DC at Nebraska, and Oklahoma. He spent 8 years in the NFL with the Packers, Patriots, and 49'ers. Are you kidding me??
AND HE CALLED US?????
He's got to be a hard-nosed guy with his nebraska background. Would be a good hire, but surely a long shot. I like Strong's credents but we need hard-nosed, smart and a passion to kick a$$ in the SEC.
You need to rewatch the game my friend. First off they completely exposed our lack of LB speed by running side to side. Second our best DT was hurt so we moved a 240 pound DE to DT. That completely changed the game as wisconsins O line was getting a massive push. Imagine a 320 pound o lineman pushing a 240 pound DT, it creats a massive hole all game. We don't have depth on the line and slow LBs so they completely gassed us and kept mixing it up. Also see how many missed tackles you find, coaches don't miss tackles, they get you in a position to make tackles. At the end of the day it falls on everybody's shoulders but to base your post off of your so called logic is rediculous. The Badgers run the same offense philosophy that most successful SEC Teams do. Run the ball and hit you in the mouth. He has had plenty of time to build the Cornhuskers and repair his D for this and got ran over by the Badgers. Again, Badgers run and hit you in the mouth. If he got beat that bad I dont see him winning in the SEC. No Thanks
