What say you, Gentleman of Volnation?

I say there is a viable argument that can be made to say that it is.

Simple enough to work and makes sense. Not many tanning salons on MLK Blvd.

Everyone can make a choice to lay in a tanning bed and it's not something you have to do. If an Asian woman wanted to be darker, she could lay in a tanning bed and over time achieve that. I would not call it racially biased, personally.

It's no more racially biased than charging tax on take-out at Taco Bell. :)

Actually no. Not many mexicans at Taco Bell. Just golden brown blonde chicks for the most part.

Yeah...thought about that.

Then, it's like taxing dim sum. If there's a white dude up in there, he's dating/married to an Asian lady.

Or, alcohol. That's racist against Native Americans.

This could get bad.

I would argue that it is yet another form of "sin tax," since tanning beds are generally viewed as a bad idea by dermatologists anyway.

I hate sin taxes.

Not really. It's the idiot tax, much like the lottery. You can't any longer tax those that make the median income so you devise ways to get their money into the guv'ment's hands too.

Lottery is the best example of taxing the poor and stupid.

....and giving the poor false hope that they can get free educations for their kids. Oops, they all payed for it by buying all those jumbo bucks tickets.

The way lotteries are run by states is almost sick. I'm sure we have all seen the person who clearly has no business frivolously spending money on scratch off cards come in and put down their last bit of cash on a roll. False hope, indeed.

What is that from? They're holding assualt rifles up in the background, and it looks like they have a banner with a muslim cleric or something... But what kind flag is that? Can't be Cuban, but that is sort of what it looks like...

Disagree. I see the lottery as a more sound investment than my fed taxes seem to be. At least there's a chance I'll get something back

that's fair, but if the lottery wasn't helping, you'd be paying for the UT higher ed system too.

In Tennessee, it goes to only higher education and pre-K programs (and it shouldn't got to pre-K programs, there was some after-the-fact politicking done on that one).

And by higher education, I mean only scholarships. No actual funding to make sure there are enough educators or classrooms for the students when they get there-- so thus, tuition increases, affecting only the ones not on scholarship. Kind of a crappy chain of events.

I've no idea, actually. It's an image that's been floating around the net for a couple of years or more with that particular caption.
