IS the Vols QB situation similar to...

are they (ferguson/dobbs) pocket qb's or mobile qb's?

i keep seeing arguments going each way about whether they are or are , so which is it?

Ferg is supposed to be a pocket passer from what I understand. Dobbs is supposed to have better wheels.

Which is why I suspect Dobbs will continue to red shirt. CBJ probably wants to keep him in pocket and work up his skills this year and come out blasting in the future.

So then I guess every team that has a crappy starter and an athletic backup should be compared to the 49ers...

IMO, the Vols current QB situation is very similar to what the OBC had going at Carolina for a while with Shaw and Thompson. In our situation, Shaw = Ferguson and Thompson = Dobbs. Both are very good quarterbacks, but they have different strengths. Shaw is a gamer and consistently finds ways to grind out the W. Thompson is the stone-cold passer with a real knack for slinging the rock. They had quite the QB competition going on for a while, and while Shaw currently starts, they're both important members of the QB rotation.

Maybe it's just me, but I see some parallels.

My understanding is just the opposite. People think Dobbs can move but really Furg is the most mobile on the team (besides Peterman).

Guess this is why gator is so confused.
