Is there any reason we dont want Miami to lose?

Would it not help us host? All I see is that USC would have to beat Notre Dame.
Not really, because the ACC champ, unless it’s Clemson, will be in the top four. If it’s Clemson, then the B12 champ will likely move into the top four. Miami doesn’t really impact Tennessee in any way.

Miami losing to an 8-3 team while we won today would drop them below us in the rankings....

Think of it this way, OSU and Miami are in front of us and lost to 3+ loss teams while we won on the same day.

I could see a scenario where we wind up in the 6-7 seed on Tuesday where Miami and Ohio State are behind us.

The thing is that Miami losing tonight drops them from the ACC title game and pushes SMU into the ACC auto bye seed.

Yes they do. Because if they lose tonight, they are an at large team that will fall behind us and allow us to move up 2 spots AND not allow Ohio State to drop as far out of the host seeds.

Gotcha. Well……I don’t like them, so go Orange(MEN).

Miami is now an at large team as they are eliminated from the ACC title game.

So SMU will move up to their spot currently (Top 4 seed) and Miami slides down rankings. This allows the CFP to move us into a host seed spot and keep Ohio State in the Top 8 so they can host at the Shoe

I have no idea what trying to say, but it doesn’t really impact Tennessee at all. Tennessee will move up a spot in the rankings, but SMU will move into the four spot, replacing Miami. That means Tennessee will still be on the road for the first round.

SMU flips with Miami in the latest seedings while Miami will drop below us..... It also allows Ohio State to not drop as far down the host seeds, but still drop below us. This is a wonderful loss for us.

We are now going to be the #3 "at large seed" come Tuesday.

Only thing I disagree with you on is Ohio State only dropping to the 5 spot. And UGA is winning the SEC so Texas losing and only dropping 3 spots to stay ahead of us is unlikely. Obviously so far, the best thing for us is A&M beat Texas tonight. Georgia WILL win the SEC so it really comes down to not having to drop Ohio State, Miami (and/or Texas based on tonight) below us even though all 3 could have losses to 3+ loss teams at the end of the night. We are in a lot better shape than many think.

I'm just glad that right now, the people will stop talking and crying about a rematch with Georgia in Athens. That is not happening after this Miami loss.

Ohio State will drop below UT and UGA. This is a 6-5 Michigan team they lost to, at home.

ND can't get a first round bye can they? Since they are not in a conference.

The only thing the Miami loss does is give Clemson or SMU a shot for the a first round bye. Clemson loses they ain't getting In. Clemson wins, SMu would drop below us, maybe out. But they are already behind us right now. So regardless of this Miami loss today it doesn't really help us any.
