Is there any reason we dont want Miami to lose?

Only thing I disagree with you on is Ohio State only dropping to the 5 spot. And UGA is winning the SEC so Texas losing and only dropping 3 spots to stay ahead of us is unlikely. Obviously so far, the best thing for us is A&M beat Texas tonight. Georgia WILL win the SEC so it really comes down to not having to drop Ohio State, Miami (and/or Texas based on tonight) below us even though all 3 could have losses to 3+ loss teams at the end of the night. We are in a lot better shape than many think.

I'm just glad that right now, the people will stop talking and crying about a rematch with Georgia in Athens. That is not happening after this Miami loss.

Agreed...........Texas is losing AT LEAST 1 of the next 2........if not both. I'll be cheering A&M for sure. Also, Miami is out..........no way they stay in at 12 spot, might as well welcome back the gumps.

ND can't get a first round bye can they? Since they are not in a conference.

The only thing the Miami loss does is give Clemson or SMU a shot for the a first round bye. Clemson loses they ain't getting In. Clemson wins, SMu would drop below us, maybe out. But they are already behind us right now. So regardless of this Miami loss today it doesn't really help us any.
No they can’t, but they can be ranked fourth overall, and then just dropped down when it comes to seeding.

Right, Miami’s loss doesn’t really do a lot for Tennessee. Either the ACC or B12 champ, both of whom will be ranked behind Tennessee, will vault into the top four.

Exactly. It all comes down to how far they drop OSU IMO.

Penn State should lose to Oregon in the BIG10 championship game, pushing them below us.

ACC and SEC championship games will play a role in final rankings.

Still a lot to be decided but VolNation is hoping we can host on Dec 20/21.

If Clemson beats SMU Miami is out.

Well that would cause chaos because how far does Miami drop for losing to 9-3 Cuse. Miami isn't dead yet as A&M could very well keep them alive. I don't think a 10-2 Miami gets in the playoff, but I also don't think they will drop very far in the rankings either. I expect them to drop to an extent less than Ole Miss/Bama did for their losses last week to much worse teams.

I think Miami loss will allow us to slide up 2 spots, along with Georgia, and get in front of Ohio State. While I believe the Ohio State bias, they are not a very good team right now and have obvious issues. They literally lost as a 20 point favorite at home. That is about as bad as Ole Miss losing to Kentucky at home.

The Miami loss has nothing to do with us moving up. It's gonna come down to whether the committee wants to drop OSU below us.

The other scenario we may want to play out is Texas losing tonight and UGA winning next week. Maybe they drop Texas below us.

Most folks have Tennessee only moving up 1-2 spots. I seriously think they will jump 2-3 spots based on the world right now (with OSU and Miami losing). They could jump even higher depending on what else happens. They are as much in the driver seat as they could wish for right now. Interesting to see what happens.

Based on the latest playoff predictions after Miami’s loss today & Bama’s win, Miami still has a 40% chance of making the playoffs and the gumps a 23% chance. I certainly hope the gumps Do Not make the playoffs.

We’ll know soon enough. To me, it seems we’re in better shape to host a first round playoff game after today.

Sure it does.....

The committee now has a way to not drop their Suckeye Darlings as far down while moving Georgia and Tennessee up. I 100% expect to see Tennessee ranked ahead of Ohio State on Tuesday.

Agree, think TN is most likely ranked #7 in the CFP come Tuesday, possibly as high as #6 or as low as #8. Regardless, we should be hosting now.

Miami is now an at large team as they are eliminated from the ACC title game.

So SMU will move up to their spot currently (Top 4 seed) and Miami slides down rankings. This allows the CFP to move us into a host seed spot and keep Ohio State in the Top 8 so they can host at the Shoe

A few of things:

1) I question if Miami still deserves to be in the top 12 because they have beaten only 1 ranked team and have lost 2 of their last 3. However I still see them hanging in for now.

2) Yes, the Miami loss helps UT. It gets us closer to a sure 5-8 hosting slot.

3) The Miami loss keeps Clemson alive. If Clemson finds a way to beat SMU in the title game they are in. I think SMU is guaranteed a spot at this point. Then Miami is eliminated.

4) I'm not sure Ohio State should be a Top 8 team. Even Georgia fell out the Top 8 with a loss to playoff contender Ole Miss. Yet, somehow the Big Ten continues to get more credit than it deserves.

Lol. It has nothing to do with us moving up though. It comes down to whether the committee thinks OSUs loss warrants dropping them below us. Should it? Absolutely. But will it happen? I am doubtful. OSU will get the benefit they are the banner carriers of the Big 10.

Miami and SMU will essentially trade places in the rankings this coming week, so has nothing to do with us moving up in the rankings.

10-2 Miami vs 11-1 Indiana.... Who is a better team? Because I think that could very well be a discussion to be had over the bubble teams as that is exactly what both of them are now.

Like I don't believe for a second that a 10-2 Miami should drop in the rankings behind the likes of 9-3 Bama, Ole Miss, USC..... i could see Miami dropping to the "first team out line" where Clemson was coming into this week.

Same with 10-2 Ohio State who's last game was a trainwreck at home against a 20 point underdog

Not just OSU, just the B1G 10 love in general.......I'm not sure what their deal is other than I think they feel that if they tout the B1G 10 enough and continue pushing that they're just as good as the SEC it'll come true some how. Watching Indiana Purdue for a min and TIm Brando just said (quote) "To my people in the south, you need to pay attention because at some point the number of losses matter." He was referring to why Indiana should be in the playoff beating up on a 1-10 Purdue. Claims Indiana is back and deserves to be in while cracking on the fans of the SEC complaining.

It's really laughable.
