Is this a “Make or Break” game?

If we win, how far does it build our confidence moving forward? Do we pretty much run the table?
If we lose, how bad will this team sink? Or would we still pretty much run the table?

I think this is a pretty big game for building confidence heading into conference play and would be a signal to the general public that we are getting closer to being the team that was so hyped up in early November. A loss would be very disappointing but wouldn’t derail the season, by any means.

We can afford to lose about 12 games before we’re on the bubble. I think Barnes and the Vols have earned that much since he came to TN. That’s going to be dependent on getting some quality wins and no embarrassing losses.

Since we haven't beaten a top 25 team yet, one would think we are about 26th in the nation.
That's not good for this roster, we should be top 10.

I think this is a very important game, especially being at home. Lose this one and
there needs to be some intense analyzing of schemes, rotation, etc.

One single game in December of college basketball does not make or break a season, so the overall premise of this thread is foolish. Is this an important game, sure, but the result doesn’t define the rest of the season either way imo. However for the casual, uneducated CBB fan it likely will…a win will tell them that we are indeed a Top 10-15 team and should win a bunch of games. A loss would mean to them that we are likely not even a Top 25 team and will struggle to make the NCAAT.

This game is a good measuring stick for this time of season. Illinois is capable of playing top 5 defense as are we. I'm looking for balance on offense, continued improvement in rebounding and developing team chemistry.

Wisconsin road win is basically a top 20 road victory and will definitely help our resume. Getting todays dub will be HUGE.

Basically it’s another opportunity to solidify our team of being a solid top 15 team in the country. Not that it’s a must game but it would definitely help alleviate some of the pressure and would be a confidence builder for the team! VOLS needs to win today and TBA needs to be rocking to help seal an important dub!
