Is this blitz our kryptonite?

This^ & the crowd was so loud we went on a timed count & the D-line timed it as well or better than our O-line. In fact watching re-play looked like UGA jumped early 3 times with no calls. They were in Hookers face every throw and took HH out of his comfort zone,
Kudos to UGA & their Fans brought it. Vol fans time to put up.

Kudos also to the AD employee that piped in the crowd noise over the PA system.

I'm not a football guru and I wouldn't even know what the blitz is called...BUT I re-watched the GA game and they have 2 pull out and 2 blitz on the each side. Not sure if it's the scheme that hurts us or our players just couldn't pick up the blitzes. What type of offensive play beats this call?
You just have to perform your assignment and beat the man in front of you, that is all.

Hard to say the officiating was deliberately biased in that one. Us not being assessed with a safety when Carter stripped Hooker in the end zone is as nonsensical a call as you'll ever see. The fact that went our way, even after replay was amazing. Of course, as luck would have it, we probably would have been better off with a safety because they scored on a long pass on the next play after the punt.

Totally agree, with the caveat if they would have called just 1 encroachment it would have slowed down the D-lines jump. I'm sure they were told to keep guessing and stay on go until you get a flag. It was UGAs day they have a great team that brought by far the most loud and raucous crowd UT faced. I expect the Gump's to do the same in Tuscaloosa.

2 things will beat Heupels offense.
1 - having an NFL level roster across the defense (loss to UGA)
2 - Getting in a situation where the offense has to start forcing itself (loss to USCe)

That's it.

Agree with this and also if you hold Vols to a 3 & out first possession like Pittsburg, it just seems to give this O a bit of struggle getting going. The 2 games UGA & Pitt were we showed a bit of Struggle we were playing from behind. 14 to 3 UGA & 10 to 7 Pitt end of 1st quarter. I just totally discount the USCe game in my mind that was an anomaly although we were down 21 to 7 that game also at end of 1st Quarter. Vols getting a good start 1st Quarter seems to factor in but that USCe game was just weird from beginning to end. After being down big looked to be mounting a comeback & Hooker injury & unforced fumble that gave them a TD & a 14 point swing and all the other off field stuff just bizarre game.

Sounds like a zone blitz. The liability of that call is that you trade two LBs for two DLs playing a short zone. If the blitzers don't get home then throws to the flats or mid-middle should be wide open.

UGA won simply because man for man the talent gap was too great.

USCe won primarily because UT's D couldn't stop them... and that largely due to so many injuries in the secondary. The Vols scored 38 points vs USCe. That's enough to win any game if the D can get stops. They couldn't.

Just remember. 3rd quarter. We were down by 11 but still moving when Hendon tore his knee up in that cess pool of a field. That sealed the game.

That would be great!

But would love for us to embarrass them! Hope CJH finds that soft spot like he did with Hyatt against Bama! Plus I think our D will be much better and they could potentially not be as lucky on their QB play this year.

We'll have a 6'5" experienced speedster if he recognizes the blitz the way Milton does that could give UGA defense hell every time they do it this year.

I am really trying to figure out how we can get Thornton and Squirrell on the field at the same time to have two speedsters our there.
