Is this surprising?

Any money going to special interest groups, especially one so purely partisan as ACORN should be criminal. Any elected official voting for or advocating for this should be run out of DC.

Guess they couldn't formulate any roundabout logic for this topic.

I'll just have to serve as a surrogate liberal:

Well, Bush stole the 2000 election...blah, blah, blah...

It's a bill that's getting vetting out. It's a valid concern to make sure all of the 825 billion proposal is accounted for. But spending too much time worrying about 4 billion is like worrying about ants when the elephants are coming.

My biggest question is about House Republican Leader John Boehner. Is that pronounced "Boner"?

I hope it is.

Who whoa whoa.

Let's get our facts straight.

First, the article states that community groups like ACORN might be eligiible for funds, not that this is an earmark for ACORN. In fact, as I read the article, any community organization -- liberal or conservative -- would be eligible.

Second, what the article is really about -- and I happen to agree -- is that the bill has a large number of special line appropriations to various special interests and that the appropriations aren't all that much about stimulus.

This is the exact same problem I had with the bill passed at the behest of Bush. And at the time I said so, which is that there were a lot of House Republicans at that point who demanded various special interest dollars in exchange for their support. Now, it would appear that there are folks on the other side of the aisle who are demanding their own pork in order to support the bill.

Both sides are wrong on this point and, as I said at the time, I wish someone would publish a list of the House members (Democrat AND Republican) who have used this as a mechanism to curry favor within their own districts as the midterms approach in 2010.

But let's not make this a partisan issue by raising the specter of ACORN awash in billions because, first, that is not accurate at all, and second, it misses the point, which is that the bailous bills under both administrations are loaded down with a bunch of pork projects demanded by both Republicans and Democrats and for all the wrong reasons.

$4bil here, $4bil there and eventually we're talking about real money.

But he said the funding is just one example of frivolous spending items in the $825 billion package.

ACORN was caught redhanded committing voter fraud before the election. They shouldn't get a dime.

True, I should have been more clear. Worry about all the $4bil earmarks - not just this one since it might have some applicability to ACORN.

i figured you dems would be happy with big amount of government spending. isn't it the government job to supply all of our needs?

as for "community" funding. if you think that any conservative community groups (if any exists) will get any of this money, well have some land on mars i'm selling. i'll even through in a space shuttle. that portion of money is payback for Hussein getting elected.

republicans need to filibuster this bill, if the can't filibuster, then no republican should vote for this bill. it's so great for the economy, Hussein doesn't need any republican support.

anti abortion groups. that's about the only conservative groups that are created to work in the community, that received government money. Lib groups get 100-1000x the money that these small groups get.

the fact is, a-hole, i mean acorn is getting payback for helping obama get elected. that's the bottom line.

Another statement of fact by you and gsvol that is just made up. May we have a link for proof of your claim that 100 to 1000 times the money goes to "lib groups"?
