Is this year Pearl's worst coaching job?

This is his worst job motivating the players. It's hard to come up with the right X's and O's when the players aren't hustling like they should.

Im sure the lack of motivation has a lot to do with the playing time S. Pearl and McBrick continue to receive.

No question those four losses to the schlubs mid-season hurt like the dickens. Will hurt our seeding (assuming we get in the tourney) and that will cost us. I just think Pearl has had a more difficult time this year in getting consistent leadership from the upperclassmen (i.e. Hopson and Goins). One night it's there, the next night it isn't.

Of course, we have to consider that Pearl's "worst" coaching job is a sight better than most years that we've had to witness in the past 40 years. All I have to do is think about Wade Houston, Kevin O'Neill, and Buzz Peterson to put it in perspective.

Not sure if this is a serious question or not. If you have seen him play you know he has no business being on the floor with other SEC-caliber basketball players. He would not even be All-conference playing in the OVC.

Semi-serious. I just remember Bilas being high on him when he was announcing the Pitt game-saying how much he would add when he got back from injury. I had never thought him to be that great, so when Bilas said that it just stuck, and ever since he sits the pine.

No, that 2007-2008 team was pitiful. Absolutely pitiful. That team should have been better.

Do you mean 2008-09?

Because the 2007-08 squad won the SEC. They disappointed against Arkansas in the SECT, and they were routed by Pitino, who is undefeated in the Sweet 16 Round. Other than that, it was a banner year (literally).

Even the 2008-09 team won the East and reached the SECT final for the first time since Allan Houston.

No question, if the team makes the tournament this year, it will be the first time in history that the program has gone to 6 consecutive tournaments. Of course, you have to factor in the continuing increase of teams that now participate in the tournament. No argument that Pearl has done a good job with the program. The question is---has he reached the peak of success and we are now seeing a downward spiral with the program under Pearl? No doubt, his self-inflicted problems are going to have a negative impact on the program, regardless of the outcome. I don't see any way that next year's team won't be less talented than this year and the cycle could continue.

I know you will be pulling for Kentucky tonight, but, is your hatred of pearl really matter to you that much?

:loco: UT should just stop all of their sports all togather. Just let Kentuckty, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Florida play in the sec. Bruce go over and set on the bench with Calipari until you learn to coach.:hi:

This isn't his worst coaching job but it is his worst team. No shooters, Only 1 guy who can (occasionally) make his own shot, Hopson. And no offensive minded post players. Harris could be a bit better than Wheezy in 4yrs but otherwise the team is just average.

GBO!

Don't insult me with your stupid comments. There is no team in America that I would rather beat than Kentucky. It is pathetic that you can't accept facts except for resorting to the "hate Pearl" crap. Your hero really looked great last night. The team was a well-oiled machine. It was the Refs that cost us the game. Keep up the same old crap in trying to defend Pearl and refuse to accept reality. That's what you Pearl lovers do.
