Is this year's team the Vols Most talented team since

Just a level of expectation. Thats all

So you expect a team, who hasn't gone to the tourney the past 2 years to make to the sweet 16? I mean only 3 guys on this team have been to the tourney and 2 of them out of that 3 haven't played in a tourney game. I'm just saying you should expect us to make it to the tourney, cause saying you expect them to make to the sweet 16, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. I think this team has the talent to make a deep run in the tourney, but I expect nothing from them, but just to make it

Isiah Victor
Vincent Yarbrough
C.J. Black
Charles Hathaway
Dell Baker

That was some of the talent UT had when they lost to North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament on Jerry Green's watch and i think the year was 2001.

I believe this was the most talented team, but Charles Hathaway was the most frustrating player I ever watched at UT.

Kentucky didn't go to the NCAA tourney last year either. We actually have more NCAA tourney experience coming back on this years team than KY has coming back on theirs. What do you think their expectations are this year?

It kinda funny that their mindset is NC or a disappointing season and we set ourselves up for disappointment if we can't expect a sweet 16 with the best and most balanced team that we have had in 5-6 years.

Are you sure that's accurate?

Well, it's not as accurate as I thought. I remember looking the info up months ago. I just looked up the current rosters NCAA numbers again and we have 2 players that played mop up duty in the MI game. McRae played 2 min, and Maymon played 1.

Jon Hood for KY has played 11 total minutes in mop up duty his Freshman and Soph. years.

So, greater percentage of our roster has played in an NCAA tourney game, but their roster has logged more minutes.

I would assume Barton played in the tourney at some point too

D@mn, how could I forget Barton, looks like espn has also. They don't list him on our roster, so I overlooked him. And yes, he's played 43 total NCAA tourney minutes. So we have 3 players to 1 that has played in NCAA tourney games. And our current roster has logged 46 minutes vs. 11.

A fun team to watch was Ellis, Brooks, Burton and Beaman in 82/83 that lost to Lousiville in the second round.

I agree with you, but most of the regulars on here are too young to consider that team. Heck, they think Allan Houston is old school.

Didn't get to see them play so I can't comment. The team Bravo mentioned is really good. I think the 09-10 team is under valued. Not just because of the elite 8, but they're a silly foul away from being in the final 4. They handled a lot of teams that year.

I was counting guys that head been to the tournament, and how many times, as IMO that counts for something. That general tournament atmosphere experience is valuable, and can be instrumental in teaching the younger guys. They have more total NCAA game appearances on their than we do if I counted correctly.

Obviously splitting hairs at this point, just was pointing out we don't have much NCAA experience either.

Coming into this year both rosters has a player or 2 that has played in nothing but mop up duty. Adding Barton gives us a guy that has played some meaningful minutes in the tourney. He played 35 minutes in one game alone. That could be valuable come March.

I agree, neither is what you'd call an experienced NCAA team though.
