She is a state of Tennessee employee isn't she ? Presuming that is the case, then a more humane way to handle this situation may be that she becomes ill and the reins are turned over to Elzy for the remainder of season and she then retires with honors after the season is completed. Then conduct a new Coach search.

This way she keeps her dignity as a long time Lady Vol for life and maybe some life can be breathed back into the moribund program.

This is so silly and wrong.

Bubonic plague? What illness should we give her?

Any illness say like a severe case of the flu .....she looked like she had the flu in her post game interview .....she just does not recover in time to return to the bench for the rest of the season

I know that ultimately Holly will be fired it will have to happen. It want happen this year she must have another terrible season and fail to recruit anybody or we'll keep moving in the same direction. I wish the boosters of UT the ones with all the influence on decisions understood what has happened this season to one of our most prized programs. I wish somebody cared except the average fan. I wish Holly cared enough to say she was in over her head and resign.
The most losses ever by a Lady Vol team. The first time out of the top 25 in decades. Very sad today to think of what all has went down this season. A once proud program in total chaos.

If she is not truly ill and tries to retire and draw benefits under a medical eligibility clause, wouldn't that constitute fraud?

Wasn't suggesting that she retire due to medical disability ....just retire rather than firing her.

The medical thingy was just to get her out of the way for the rest of this season.

Seems to me this would be a way for the Administration and Holly to save some face and let her ride off into the sunset with more happy trails ....as Gene Autry used to sing.

Standard face saving measure...a politician about to be indicted will sometimes retire from public life for "health reasons" as part of a deal to avoid prosecution (I give Hillary about 2 months before this happens). No reason a coach can't use it, although it would have to be plausible.

Perhaps Dooley Syndrome? Symptoms include inability to connect with recruits, wearing of inappropriate pants, and spells of confusion on gamedays.

Hope you are correct especially on the bold above. :hi:

Please expound why it is silly and wrong ?

Would you give voluntarily give up a $600k/year job if no one was moving to fire you? I wouldn't.

It shouldn't be a matter of beseeching Holly to quit. It should be begging Hart to fire her.

I agree 100%. OP. Lying is lying and fabricating a health condition is morally galling. Holly's not going to give up her job without clinging to it...maybe even up to her last breath. Can you imagine how long she'd been dreaming about becoming HC for the LVs? Hart should be conducting a search-in-earnest whilst allowing Holly to write her resignation speech following this catastrophe of a season. Leave without allowing sour grapes to ferment, Holly. There's little time left to do so before your exit's not announced by somebody else. Thanks for being a VFL.

If she is not eligible for retirement it may be. I am do not know much about the retirement requirements for Tennessee State employees, but in many States, an employee with 35 years of service and has reached the age of 55 can retire.

I don't think she will retire and will stick it out as long as possible. I think it depends on what happens in the tournaments this year and how recruitment goes this Spring and next November.
