Some folks here setting the stage for holy war and doing the progressive dehumanization necessary to justify ethnic cleansing.

I’d even agree that Islam is fundamentally an intolerant religion and the left sometimes goes so far as to be tolerant of intolerance. It’s funny tho that most on the right would rather take the "they’re persecuting Christians" route than pretend their intolerant culture actually bothers them.

But this is still disgusting, albeit pretty expected from bloated orange. His supporters are complicit in more and more treasonous and war crime-y sh!t. I’m a little disturbed that the many fans of my beloved Vols will probably brain pretzel themselves into defending this in particular.

Egypt and turkey has already said theyre committed to helping the rebuild in Gaza. I’m sure a lot of countries will fund it, including the US. Just like they all have in years past

When the POTUS says wild ass sh*t like occupying, rebuilding and "owning" Gaza, its cause for concern. This isn't 'living rent free' TDS, his words carry weight. If he's too stupid to understand that his intrusive thoughts need a filter then it's going to be a rough four years, for everyone.

It was an incredibly irresponsible statement to put out. Does nothing but inflame the situation even more so, and introduce further uncertainty.

Astonishing that no one would stand up and say, you sure you want to float putting American troops in Gaza while we spend taxpayer money to rebuild it? When you surround yourself with sycophantic yes men, this is the result I guess.

I'm starting to think that he says the most idiotic things possible, just so when he walks back SOME of it. And then people are just relieved and get desensitized that he's not going full retard, so they let it slide. And that chaos gets drowned out by the chaos of his next carnival bark.

Never implied it was TDS as I think both sides are making too much out of something that is a "we'll have to see WTF he's going with it." Just like the tariffs, and just like the pro-Trump pronouncements re: USAID investigative findings; I don't know any of these people making the reveals or where'd they'd get them.

I'll wait til the bones have some meat and we actually know something.

I get it, but Gaza could hardly be more inflamed than it is. It sure is firing up the left and some on the right. And VN 'independents'.
I'll wait for more before throwing energy into tariffs, USAID investigative findings, and Gaza.

Outside of periods of armed conflict with Israel, upwards of 60-70% of Gazans express dissatisfaction with Hamas rule, which is a cold, hard hand, for lack of jobs and a gutter economy, and prospects for their children. In the estimation of the WH, Gaza is nearly/not inhabitable and can't be patched back together without substantial rebuild, and that Hamas cannot be allowed to rule again to restart the cycle.

I think a 2-state solution entirely out of the question, especially when the majority of Jordan was set aside for Palestinians. But no one in the region wants them because decades of Arafat and Hamas death cult Islamic ideology is nearly congenital in some meaningful % of the population. So, how to put some sort of pressure on surrounding states to relocate them while building? Part of that could be a very public initial conversation, even if one-sided, with at least 2-3 nations we have something of an alliance with, two of them being Jordan and Egypt.

What if rebuilt Gaza become a place where various people from the ME can migrate to, and set up a government that unlike Hamas, you don't only get to vote once in 16 years, and have that term lasts in perpetuity? And is made up of those varied people, including some % of the 60-70% of Gazans who might actually like jobs and a bustling economy, and children not aspiring for nothing more than the same dead end. Perhaps that's how you kill the death cult ideology. Just as a large number of Palestinians live in and prefer Israel to any other country in the ME.

Now how do you get there?

I've no idea if that's the thought process, but it smacks of logic to me, and caterwauling about it now, smacks of instant gratification mentality. And I don't think for a second someone handed Trump an announcement and said "now you trot and there and just read this, Mr. President." Nor was he sitting on the toilet the night before, and made a snap decision to 'take over Gaza'.

I assume.
