Israeli Attack on Iran Will Occur This Fall, says Israeli TV

If Israel were to attack Iran in October, how would this affect the POTUS election?

Help Obama ?

Help Romney ?

Unless either one of the candidates decided that they wanted the US to partake in such a war effort -- and I seriously doubt either one of them wants to campaign on a war or any military intervention -- there wouldn't be much effect in terms of the presidential election itself.

Romney was very hawkish in his speech in Israel. He was very much in support of Israel regarding Iran.

Most Republican presidential nominees are. Doesn't mean he's going to campaign -- at least not publicly -- on helping out something like that, no matter how pro-Israel he is.

If money from the US stopped, Israel would collapse in a matter of weeks.

Look - on the one hand, I appreciate our allies. We need all we can get.

On the other hand, I'm not sure this alliance doesnt cause us more harm than good. I can't honestly think of one thing the US couldn't do/achieve without Israel.

I'm tired of the US playing big brother to every country that wants to start a fight. If they want to bomb Iran then tell them they have the green light but we'll be too busy to help out that day. I'm getting to the point where we should just let the ME burn itself to the ground

every dollar we spend on crap like this is just another one our grandkids will be forced to repay.

Sad thing is we can't just stand by and let it burn. The Dems have blocked all responsible energy policies for the last 30 years. We and the world are dependent on the ME oil.

they need us just like Chavez can curse the US but we're about the only ones that can refine his stuff.

maybe a swift kick in the pants is what we need to get alternative energy moving

^^ Would be all for AE programs if they were viable. Wind/solar are losers, everyone oposes nuclear, we have plenty of coal to last centuries and ther is no reason almost every vehicle in this country should'nt be running on CNG.

There are good alternatives to oil.

as long as we are so dependent on oil, viable alternatives will be pushed to the side.

Your right, and no one has the stones to fix it. It's easy to poor money into so called green energy, tell the mamas "we're cleaning up the air" your fat little Timmy's athsma might go away.

It will take real leadership to say, sorry but we have to build this nuclear plant, run this NG pipeline, build more refineries in your back yard.

I'll buy one when they figure out how to attach a filling station to my house. Sure it will take investment in infrastructure but I would much rather my money go for that over another war in Libya/Syria/Iran/etc.

I'm with you.

Good news is Shell is about to invest millions in conjunction with a major truck stop chain to build a NG distribution network. It's kinda like the chicken and the egg, no truck builder was going to invest in NG trucks without the market, no network = no market.

Eh, oil is global commodity. We only receive 10% of our oil from the Middle East. Even if we got 100% of our oil stateside, Israel attacking Iran would still raise the price of gasoline at the pump. Not exactly a fair statement.

That is what I was getting at. Since we have had no real energy policy for 30+ years the price of fuel would skyrocket.
