It’s a trend now

I have come to the realization that we aren’t winning a championship in football with Heupel. It’s just not gonna happen. He can’t get the talent here to do it and even when he has it, he screws it up like you said.

I guess winning 8-10 games a year is fine. It is what it is.
I agree. Problem is. Who are going to get?

I’ve come to realize it’s not so much Heupel believing in the defense as much as it is he doesn’t trust he can run his offense. That’s because his signal caller isn’t ready and he has handcuffs on him.

Bottom line is Heupel can earn back a lot of the good will he lost by kicking the crap out of Florida next weekend. On the flip side if he loses that game, this season could get ugly.

They have National Titles and we haven't beat them since 2016...
You’re still trying to justify losses based on rankings. They choked in back to back years. Hell, Bama choked one to Vandy today. A lot of yall are gonna realize that in an expanded SEC, it doesn’t matter how good you are, going undefeated or even avoiding two losses is going to be a spectacular feat.

Agree. If we lose to UF . . . We likely lose 4 in a row . . . Things will get really ugly.

Coach doesn’t have to be good, but he hast to try. He has a lot of passion and I think we owe him an opportunity to do better. 8-4 is OK this year but we need a better offensive line. Maybe we are a bit mediocre this year, but that is better than what a lot of previous coaches gave us. Go drink some more and sleep it off. Sam Pittman deserves a win like this. He seems like a pretty good guy.

I’m definitely not watching that game past the first quarter. Maybe listen to it on the radio till halftime then drink some more. And then some more.

But he was brought here as the offensive guru. The past two games, playing teams with a pulse no less, there has been no offense. Terrible play calling on runs (up the middle all night), terrible playcalling on the pass. We don’t mix anything up and when we do, the QB is so scared to do anything but look at his first option and dance.

Something doesn’t pass the smell test. He didn’t handcuff Hendon or Joe to this degree.

Hendon is extremely bright and was able to run the offense. Nico isn’t there. Hopefully he will be at some point, but it’s glaring that Heupel doesn’t trust him with the offense. Who the hell runs the ball multiple times on 3rd and long?

What I watched was just a pretty close approximation of what this Tennessee team has shown this year... A really high-level defense, capable of making stops when it needs to, a good-to-great running game (not elite), an offensive line that's just okay (better in run-block than pass-pro), a QB who has about 85% of the tools but can't hit a layered throw over a LB in zone-coverage to save his life, a group of WRs without a true game-breaking, elite threat, and a HC who is still trying to figure out the absolute right levers to pull, but seems to be making any decision possible to really protect his QB from doing something dangerous.

And Arky should have been 4-1 if not 5-0. They basically gave games away to Okie State and TAMU. This loss sucks, but there are some clear limitations with this team and offense. Only worse with injuries.

I don’t know, that is baffling.

True about Hendon. We were extremely lucky to have him. Nico is a generational talent, it just seems he’s lost, in his head, or something else is at play. What that is? I have no idea, but the last two games have been so below the baseline expectations is concerning.

Hopefully it’s just that he’s young. Time will tell if we have another Hendon or Joe.
