Thanks, Ed. Probably won't get anywhere near the number of posts in the other thread.

Strange situation. Why would Cooper and his family lie about something like that?

You guys aren't reading the fine print. His statement says he wasn't directly contacted. That doesn't cover the grey area of contact which is exactly what happened IMO. I stated in the other thread that basketball coaches have to toe the line of cheating to be successful and I feel that is what happened here. BP did put out feelers to gauge interest and this statement doesn't dispute that.

Exaggerations or just an out and out lie by the kid and family. Pearl was a easy mark due to his NCAA difficulties.

Sometimes the most obvious suspect is innocent.

Pearl doesn't have much ground to stand on, but I thought that was bogus from the get go.

First of all, Pearl and all of his assistants had their phone records combed through. Nothing in those records indicated anyone had contact with him. In addition, I remember after the game Pearl was extremely glowing of Cooper, and said that he would have been glad to have a player of his caliber - talking in regards to how he was overlooked by so many programs.

I think the kid was having just delusions of grandeur.

I am a big fan of BP and CM so my opinion isn't biased but contact like this would have been done by a 3rd party. To say phone records show no contact was made to the kid proves nothing.

It is your opinion. Not a shred of proof though. My opinion on what you are saying did not happen.

True, but he broke other rules using those phones and Cooper said it was Pearl contacting him

OK.....................so, where is the proof Pearl or any other person contacted him?

And on the flip side where is proof pearl or any other person DIDN'T contact him?

It's now a he said, she said, he said and likely will just dissapear.

There is no proof when a 3rd party is used to gauge interest. That is why I condone the putting of feelers out in these situations. The kid said tenn wanted him but no direct contact was made. Read between the lines.

No. Pretty serious stuff to be reading between the lines for me.

Hard to believe the kid just made it all up to start with but maybe I am wrong in what I think really happened.

It isn't very hard to believe that BP called the kids AAU coach after he played against him and said he really made a mistake in not recruiting in the first place and if he had any interest in transferring to let him know. The AAU coach passed along the info to the family and here we are today. That kind of thing happens all the time IMO. Not a very serious thing.
