It comes down to Arky IMO

Some people so badly want Tennessee to miss the tournament that they've become irrational about UT's at-large chances.

So let's say we get LUCKY and get in ... It will be one and out! Is that acceptable with the level of talent on this team?

Was it acceptable when Pearl's teams went one and out with more talented teams than this one? And, you don't know that with any certainty whatsoever.

This team could actually do some damage in the tourney if they get into it

No, but the committee doesn't usually look at head to head so I left it out, but you're correct.

Unless on a neutral court. I've heard them mention that's when all is fair so they can get an accurate description. So The Xavier win helps more winning in the little tourney more than losing at their place if came down to those teams. So if Arkansas and Tennessee were to meet in SEC tourney someway and Arkansas beat Tennessee it would be weighed heavier in Arkansas favor imo winning in Atlanta than losing in Knoxville.

I'm not a Gonzo supporter by any means (check my posts) but besides a few games that he should have won. He won about what most expected him to this season. We knew once the season started that playing Florida twice was going to be tough, Ky is always tough, and Witchata St doesn't look so bad now. I know we probably should have beat Vandy in Nashville and Texas AM both times, and definitely UTEP and NCST but sometimes the breaks go the other way. We split with Xavier. If we get in the NCAA tournament and make a run how many on here will still want Gonzo gone? or win the SEC tournament? I know they are long shots but what if. If Gonzo can get his players to play defense like they did against Vandy they could play with anyone. Furthermore, if Barton keeps hitting threes we may have something here.

I do agree there have been some questionable time outs, playcalling, etc. However, if those games would have been won Gonzo would be a genius. Also I get upset about Gonzos lack of intensity at times but that may just be how the man is. I also agree with the style of play we have is boring but it was beautiful against Vandy the other night because we have some offense starting to click. I could care less about keeping or firing Gonzo but if we have a diamond in the rough I would rather have stability than have to go through another coaching change. Bruce ain't coming back after he told a student and his parents to lie for him.

They could of played zero defense against Vandy and still won. Don't read too much into that Vandy game. That is the worst Vandy team I have seen in years. 7 scholarship players and that is the same bad Vandy team that beat Tn.

That is a good point.

This week will tell us a lot about this team. Do they have the drive to get in the NCAA tournament or not. If they win out and win one in the SEC tourney they have a great chance to do just that.

Bruce probably isn't coming back but that has nothing to do with Martin. Tn offense seems to click especially against lesser teams but at the same time they can't seem to beat lesser teams.

Agree, they have been very inconsistent

TNVOLS72 I lived in Jackson, GA for a few years and my granddad had a Tasty Freeze down there. Is Savannah anywhere near Jackson? I was a lot younger so I don't really remember.

The field is to large. Any team that is not in a field of 68 at this point of the season does not deserve a NCAA unless the play in their conference championship game in conference tournament.

....Regarding how many SEC teams actually get in. Now this is just my gut feeling.

FL and KY are locks, but KY's recent downslide has hurt the SEC. It's bumped KY to probably an 8 seed (especially if they lose to FL)

Arky, TN, and Mizzou are fighting for the 3/4 spot.

If Arky wins the rest of the conference games, they will take that 3rd spot and that's it.

If Arky loses just 1 more game, whoever wins the Mizzou/TN game takes the 4th spot (that's if both teams win their next game)
You know what you wrote doesn't make sense don't you?

If Arky wins out only 3 SEC Teams? But if Arky loses a game somehow SEC gets 4 in? That is strange logic!!

But I'll say it again -- If Tennessee beats Auburn and Missouri they are IN!!! It doesn't matter what Kentucky does, it doesn't matter what Arky does.

Anyway that's my two cents and I'm sticking to it!!

If Arkansas and Tennessee both win out...

Arkansas has 4 quality wins
Tennessee has 4 quality wins

Arkansas has 1 bad loss
Tennessee has 2 bad loses

Arkansas has a RPI of 51
Tennessee has a RPI of 45

Arkansas has a SOS of 85
Tennessee has a SOS of 20

Arkansas has a OOC SOS of 198
Tennessee has a OOC SOS of 45

Arkansas best win: RPI 18
Tennessee best win: RPI 10

You be the judge.
What are we now calling quality wins and bad losses?
Formula must have changed somewhere.
