It Could Happen - Hope It Does

Crazy that Guarantano could get a shot while Josh Dobbs never saw the field even though he showed out constantly in the preseason.
It really is crazy how that goes sometimes, imagine the talent that just never got lucky enough to get a real shot.
Dobbs, Jacob Eason, and Fromm come to mind of guys who I thought would be homeruns but just never got that moment

They activated JG for tomorrow’s game! Two Vols playing for Broncos. Nephew Brandon Johnson getting his 1st NFL start. I’m proud of him.
hahahaha.
He can't get away from JG even in the pros!

He transferred away in part because of him.

Oh man. Good luck Brandon hahaha

Not crazy to me. He now has a real coach. I'd like to believe he also has an OL that consistently blocks. I believe that Auburn game we won, showed he had the tools, but not a viable coach. Least not one who knew what he was doing. In Dobb's case, I think he has the misfortune of not having a pro coach who appreciates Dobb's ability to creatively make plays. Some QBs are not as good when forced into being systemized. Michael Vick, Deshaun Watson, and Randall Cunningham are examples of creative QBs at their best when allowed to be what they are rather than systemized. I think Dobb's is the same type of QB. But his coaches are the boss, so....

As convinced as I am that he'll fail, this one tidbit makes me scratch my head and wonder. He was coached by morons.

Maybe he’ll call his own number on the goal line and fumble away a win and his NFL career, as well.

The vitriol some of you carry for former players who gave their all for Tennessee is embarrassing and pathetic.

JG wasn't good here but he gave more effort every week than most of you whiners have given in the last decade.

What if JG pulls a Justin Coleman and becomes one of the best QBs in the league despite his college setbacks?

I would say his chances of hanging on to multiple teams and have a long career as a 3rd string or Taxi squad QB are high. He was always a great practice QB and very likable/ coachable player. He will be better off if he never gets into a game that matters in the long run for staying power and earning a living.

Why it’s so important to get on right team and right opportunity. Giants are stuck with Daniel Jones and I’d take Dobbs in a heartbeat.

Yeah there’s that, for sure. Coaching matters. If JG was coached by JH it could have helped him. If Hooker stayed at VT, he’d still be good but JH put him on the map to show everyone he’s got the skills, but also has the mental part. Whoever gets him in round 2 or so will be pleased.

Nathaniel Hackett and his staff is horrible. Among the worst offensive system in the league. There will be a mass firing after one year. That doesn't happen unless it's a horrible failure

I just hope despite it all, the apparent Pruitt 2-0 coaching, that JG shows out. That's all I care about right now.

Good luck to him. That guy suffered through Butch and Pruitt. Is there another QB who had to play under that level of consistent incompetence? Personally, would love to see JG catch a break and do well!

hes not. Look at his other posts. He’s like several on here that can’t let things go, constantly making snarky comments about players/former players/coaches, living in the past, etc. some people just choose to be whiny, miserable people

Imagine having the time or care to even scroll through another man’s post history to make yourself feel better 😂

JG had every chance to succeed here but he just sucked. It had little to do with coaching or blocking. His issue was lack of pocket awareness.

Denver's OL has been among the worst the last 5 years.
The common denominator in all those qb's you list is their tendency to take off running-- especially Watson. I see it almost as a fault because that inner desire to tuck and run keeps them from being a pure pocket passer who thrives in the NFL vs the short lived success running qb that defenses figure out after a while .None of those QB's have gone very deep in the play offs or been very consistent over the long haul.

Thank you for your opinion, sir. Now, pack it and ship it. I will always stand in the corner of our players except for those who commit criminal acts, and refuse to learn from it, or badmouths and misrepresents the university. I will not stomp on them if they happen to not please me with their play. When I say I'm a Vols fan, I mean it on a level some of our VN folks are incapable of understanding.
