I hate Jesse Jackson, food stamps and welfare has been the down fall of the African American community. My 83 year old grandfather struggles I don't mind him getting bennefits but these able bodied lazy bums need to get up off their ass, quit making excuses and get a J. O. B. !!!!!

My father subs at his old high school and he tries to set the example for other AA kids and they tell him we ain't got to study etc cuz my mama says I don't have to. I can go to the NBA..... No real goals, ambition just piss poor attitude.

Jesse Jackson was a good man, who did many good things. I didn't always agree with him, but his heart was good.

He has tarnished his reputation since the 80s with crap. It is a shame.

This "good man" is the same one that dipped his shirt in the blood of MLK soon after he was shot and aught the first train to Chicago to brag about how he allegedly cradled Dr. King in his arms when he died.

Yeah, he just became a self-promoter in the 1980's...

What did he do that was good? I mean his life is "public service" so on the surface it all seems good, but all I've seen is his role as a "poverty pimp". What did he do before the 80s?

I don't like Jackson's constant refrain of excuse-making. Sorry to disappoint those of you who simply assumed I would defend this.

(OTOH I also think the Tea Party's rhetorical representation of this is ... unfortunate.)
