It is time we stop claiming Florida and Pittsburgh as good wins

I get the feeling if Tennessee was in a 2 team division and went undefeated, there’d still be fans bitching about how we didn’t deserve it because the other team sucked and didn’t even win any games!

No, you're not just stating the obvious. You're stating a very pessimistic opinion that we should be "embarrassed" ny those wins. That's not obvious to me at all, as Im not the least bit embarrassed by them. Our team has improved and Pitt has gotten worse. We led FL by 18, and could have held that lead if coaches didn't take their foot off the accelerator and lose intensity in the last quarter. We have corrected that mistake in LSU game and I doubt that will happen again. Do no need for embarrassment for a team sitting at 7-0 and ranked #3. Thats the part of your statement that people are reacting to. Have a little self awareness.

Those games are actually embarrassing that we didn't beat both teams by 3+ TDs.

We played Pitt with their starting QB and 2 of their starting OLs I believe who are now out due to our game. I think there is a DL guy too. The team they started with was good. We let Florida back in a game, because we took our foot off the gas. We most likely would have destroyed them. Heupel, judging by his play calling with less than a minute left in the end of the Bama game said he made some mistakes and clearly has learned to let his team to get it. You can't say it is a 60 minute game and then not let your team play for 60 minutes. Pitt made us play, but Florida didn't. Anyways I'm rambling. We have nothing to be ashamed of with those wins. We were 7-6 last year with a loss to Purdue and 3-9 the year before.

I wouldn’t say that. There are some pessimists and some who seem to focus on every reason imaginable to not be happy when they should, but they are not the majority.

While I personally prefer to enjoy being undefeated, breaking streaks, and so forth it’s not hard to understand why some people find it easier to believe things are worse than they seem. The last decade plus has been filled with optimistic takes that eventually disappointed.

The thing is though, in none of those seasons did we beat Florida, Alabama, and we’re undefeated through 7 games. The closet thing I can remember is 2016 when we beat Florida and Georgia.

As good as winning those games were it still doesn’t have the feel of this season. We are much more impressive in our performances than we were that year. I don’t find myself questioning coaching decisions/play calling this year like I did in 2016, even in the games we won.

So I guess what I’m saying is I don’t think there are that many pessimists, but I do understand why some feel that way. It’s just when they make their case most of the rest of us would rather be focusing on what we are doing this year and how awesome it is right now.

I didn't say that I wasn't exciting, I just think we need to show more humility. It took overtime to beat a mediocre ACC team. Maybe SEC isn't as strong as we think since Pitt was able to slow our offense down, something no one in the SEC has been able to do to date.

You say this idiocy as if all things remain constant during a season. Pitt game was SIX WEEKS AGO and second game of the season. TN’s gradually improved and they’ve apparently slipped.
