I can tell you with all certainty that his injury plays no part in my opinion of him. His teammates opinions of him do matter to me. Not ONE of them came to his defense that year. Dispute that.I think volfanbill hit the nail on the head. Kelley was supposed to be our superstar in 2002. He wasn't, because of an injury. We sucked that year. It must have been his fault. I was a student at that time. This is indeed what happened.
excellent point. it's interesting so many of us, self included at times, will root for peyton no matter what, and you have a team like the patriots where you have two former Vols making significant, allbeit different, contributions....yet no one is striking up the Volunteer bandwaggon for Dante and Kelly like they would for Peyton. The title of this thread appears like something a negavol would say.
If you want to bring Vols into this:
Peyton Manning is a Vol. Eli is a Rebel.
#Vols on Pats roster > #Vols on Giants roster
I have no problem with either of them. I know Kelley Washington isn't popular, but most of the guys that disapprove of him have no idea what they are talking about.
As a Vol, I liked Washington. As a pro, I don't. I don't have to continue rooting for every Vol once he gets into the league, however, he is one of the few I don't like.
:lolabove:i couldn't agree more. The only Vol we all need to cheer for is Travis Henry. He desperately needs to continue getting an NFL paycheck because he is currently the father of about 1/3 of America's next generation. If you don't cheer for him, cheer for the kids.
