It's a Trap!

I read this news story. Awesome.

"I don't know who's going to be there....I don't know how big the room is going to be..."

Wait, what?

Providing health care to people will cause them to become lazy and turn us into a 3rd world country?

providing healthcare and other gov't services without you having to work for it unquestionably causes people to be lazy. talk to any person who employs people in hawaii and they will tell you that finding native hawaiins (i.e. people born and raised in hawaii) who want to work hard is very difficult. the culture expectations that the gov't will take care of everything is unquestionably the primary problem.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to work over 20 hours per week to get health care benefits from your employer.

Call me when the Daily Show does a bit about Obama/Biden taking credit for the success in Iraq (as the did last night and today). I can see Jon Stewart playing clips from Obama where he opposes the surge and says it will make things worse and where Biden lays out his strategy to partition Iraq into 3 parts.

Can't wait to see it.

Did you bother to read the Economist article? It points out the absurdity of Jon Stewart's presentation. No surprise.

No, but pointing out the Republican leadership's reluctance to be open and transparent and the publicity it is getting.

Again, did you read the article? It suggests (as many news commentators from various political persuasions have) that the administration is not being open and transparent about it's motives here either.

That's the entire point. Of course Jon Stewart served up a version where Obama is completely sincere in his interests here and the Republicans are completely insincere. Anyone who can think for themselves realizes both sides are playing games here.

Again, no, I did not read the article. I'll admit the Obama administration hasn't been as open and transparent as it originally proclaimed to be, but are any politicians? However, attempts have been made

Open Government Initiative | The White House
Transparency and Open Government | The White House

The point you are proving is the essence of Republicans refusing to allow Pres Obama's administration to be transparent through honest debate and open discussion, out of fear of the Second Massacre of Baltimore.

I think the Obama administration is being clear with it's motives pertaining to the health care debate, but of course you and the Conservative point of view will not believe this, and of course me and my view point will believe it.

Jon Stewart was accurate in his presentation. :good!:
The Republican Ministry of Propaganda is reporting the same things, that this meeting is a supposed "Trap". Obviously Jon Stewart is making pun, as does Colbert, that is their jobs. I'm not going to deny that Jon Stewart has a left bias, but he was accurate.

Obama has repeatedly slapped back the hands of those who wanted to participate in the health care debate. You'll have to excuse them if they don't take his hand in good faith offering at face value this time.

Granted many republicans were opposed to Obama's health care plan, they would have offered many amendments to water it down but Obama never allowed that to happen, he had them shut out with little to no input what so ever. Obama's plan failed to garner the support needed, even though he had control of congress. Now that he has failed and he needs their help they are supposed to take this offer graciously? Talk about having your cake and eating it too.

When? The Republicans have no solutions, besides status quo. Every Republican was opposed to the plan, in fact they distorted the plan into some Bolshevik plot, and had their talking points relayed to a certain cable news channel. So you are using the excuse that he shut them down even when they offered no amendments? He failed to garner support because he was open and transparent, he took his time, and now unfortunately in the game of politics it has back fired.

You know that the Republicans do not want any change at all, and their lobbyist special interest friends don't want change either. They are scared of being embarrassed on national television again.

If you believe the health care debate was open honest and transparent then I hold very little hope for you.

There are other ideas floating around, the republicans were called obstructionists for their opposition, the same opposition so many Americans felt as well which is exactly why the plan failed to get the support needed. Acting as if special interest wasn't a factor in Obama's choices of where to focus reform is laughable, neither side is innocent. If anything republicans are embarrassed they will be party to some piss poor legislation, they will have to share the blame and face the consequences the same way democrats have as of late.

Have little hope for me. After all, I am one of these tree-hugging, liberal, socialists that are destroying this county. :wink2:

They have no answers, what little they have offered does nothing at all to fix what is broken. They are bank-rolled by special interests and the big corporations.
