It's all about real depth

Depth is definitely a good thing and I don't think we're as bad off as some think. I dislike the guy as much as everyone else, but do most of you really believe Franklin had a huge talent pool at Vandy? Look what he got out of those s*** recruiting classes. That's a prime example that coaching does make a huge difference. "We're young", "we lack speed (bs)", "We lack depth", etc. is wearing thin.

Franklins players were better than advertised.

So our recruiting hasn't been as good as Vandys? All I'm saying is it's time to quit blaming everything else and start judging the coaches if things don't turn around this year. The talent is there and that's true whether anyone believes that or not, unless we just completely whiffed on all of those classes. Top programs around the country wanted these same players we've had on the roster for a couple years now. It's time for results and what I mean by that is at least not getting blown out like a D2 school.

You are absolutely 100 percent wrong. We have over 20 first year players on our two deep. Do the math and grit back with me. Dooley literally recruited Mac level talent while he was here. Our classes were way over rated.

I am interested to see how many players will red shirt. Just image in 4 years if we lose 33 players due to graduation from on class.
I would imagine that bUTch will spread it out, so that they don't all graduate in the same recruiting cycle.
Some are JUCO and will leave before 4 years. Some will declare for the draft early. Some will red shirt at some point along the way.

All of these guys won't make it. Do the research. Even saban has about 50 percent attrition.

Dooley didn't leave enough players. Attrition was relatively high and they lost some of the wrong players (those with more talent).

BUT... Dooley didn't "literally recruit Mac level talent". CP, MAC level? Hunter? Rogers? Tiny? Rivera? AJ? Maggitt?

Sorry but those aren't "literally" MAC level players.

Dooley failed and was fired. He didn't recruit as well as he needed to. You can demonstrate that pretty easily without having to resort to making things up.

Also did not recruit difference makers at DE and DB

Regardless of where they were rated at the time the 2011-2012 classes have been disasters with over 50% attrition. Team rankings are often misleading. Franklin did a much better job of recruiting to his needs as opposed to Dooley who was all over the board and usually just took who he could with the least amount of effort. Vanderbilt's 2013 class was actually rated higher then ours by Rivals plus we have already lost Ferguson (3 star), Carr (4 star), Harris (4 star), Malik Brown (3 star) plus a couple other players from that class. Realistically 2014 is the only SEC level recruiting class we have had since 2010. I do agree coaches should be held accountable but you're a year early on expecting to see any significant improvement in the overall results.

The key will always be depth in the trenches, lbs and rbs. Beyond that you can have success with solid play from a few key skill players. The past few years, we've recruited very well in the skill player area, but are still behind on both sides of the line. We'll know we are back as a program when we see our linemen redshirt as freshmen as a rule not an exception.
