(*inspired by a post in the "Recruit Jersey Numbers" thread*)

Players change, years change, time goes on. However, one thing that can't change is the numbers on the jerseys. There's been a lot of greats to play at the University of Tennessee, and those greats have worn a myriad of numbers. So, what are some jersey numbers that even to this day, you correlate with a certain player (at least for the time being)?? I'll start.

Jalen Hurd's wearing #1 this year.....but that'll ALWAYS be Leonard Little's number to me.

#16 goes without saying.

Brian Randolph has done well in it, but #37 will always be Peerless.

#40 will forever be Bill Bates.

It'll take a hell of a talent before #92 says anything other than "Reggie".

Your thoughts??

16 & 92 are retired so no competition for Peyton or Reggie

I always loved to keep my eye on #98 John Henderson when the ball was snapped. Watching him blow up an oline was a joy.

UT Retires Johnny Majors' No. 45 Jersey - UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics

"The previous seven numbers that have been retired will continue to not be worn by current Tennessee football players. However, the criteria under which those numbers were retired includes a provision by which specific permission could be granted by the honoree or, if the honoree is deceased, surviving family members of the honoree, to allow the number to be worn again by a current player."

#7 I know I wasn't around for the Holloway era and I have read and seen a lot of things about him but for me I sure miss having Clausen lead our offense...

#27 wish I could be as excited to see someone suit up in the 27 jersey the I was to see Al Wilson. He was beast

#98 of all the vols he was probably one of my favorites to watch... Big John Henderson was a man among boys
