My guy at UT says it's a done deal, will be announced Wednesday. Expects it to be around $3.75 mil a year.

I personally don't agree with this hire. Not impressed with what he's done at Louisville in a weak Big East. Others will disagree, say he's a great recruiter. I'm not sold.

But I do know it's a step up from Dooley.

I, for one would be happy with this hire. He can recruit and is the best option realistically. I think we'll compete hard in every game and have a stellar defense. Hopefully he keeps Chaney and we could be a surprise next year.

My cat would be a step up from Dooley. I think it's a good hire, not a great one. I am hoping Strong can make good on that potential he showed at Louisville. I would not mind having a defense like those he put together at Florida either.

3.75 million a year for Charlie Strong? Only way to support that number with his resume is noone else wanted the job. If true, I think it's a mistake. Petrino or Fulmer at 2.5 a year would have made much more sense.

It is what it is I guess. If true, I will be cheering for CS and the Vols to get back where we belong.

Doesnt he already make like 3 mil at Louisville not much of a offer if he leaves for 750000.

Your guy?
Hey, if Strong is the best you can do, so be it. I would only be upset if say a Petersen ends up at Arkansas.
I don't see Auburn getting a homerun hire (other than Petrino) due to the 'issues.'
I think Strong would do well, and if he is savvy enough to hire an offensive guru, then UT could be on their way back. We know we won't see that defensive slop we saw last year.

If Strong is the pick, I'll be telling everyone we got a great hire. I may not personally believe it, but I'll tell everyone else that. I will support him, but not as long as I did Dooley if he doesn't have better results.
