No way we put up 3.75 million for a 3 year head coach. I thought Hart was supposed to be smarter than Hamilton?

Thats pretty damn cheap, thought it would be more. Nice job of not paying out the ass for someone.

Would be great for Tennessee.

Always get good publicity for hiring an African American in the SEC. Which is weird considering the abundance of successful African American coaches in a variety of multi million dollar sports.

Aside from that, a great hire on multiple fronts. Recruiting, coaching, nationally known name, HC experience, SEC experience, and is young and fired up and ready to coach in the greatest conference in the nation.

Good to be a Vol if true

I would be on board with 3.75 million a year if he has a ZERO buyout effective from day 1. I doubt it.

Someone also mentioned Strong has a 2.5 million dollar buyout from Louisville. We would be picking that up as well. Nothing about this ordeal sounds good to me.

It's like opening up a Wal-Mart brand mp3 player on Christmas morning when you thought you were getting a real ipod

Hopefully, the $3.75M is being used to negotiate a tiny buyout, for a rainy day. 7-6, 7-6, and 10-2 at Louisville is not very impressive.

Not saying I believe...however of all the candidates I've been hearing about lately (Strong, Golden, Fisher, Franklin) he would be my first choice. He was a DC at Florida and also worked at USCe...so he knows the SEC and knows how to recruit in the SEC.

Personally if not Gruden or Tressel (I know all the baggage but a good hire nonetheless) than I was totally support Strong "IF" this is in fact true. Time will tell.

My guy at UT says it's a done deal, will be announced Wednesday. Expects it to be around $3.75 mil a year.

I personally don't agree with this hire. Not impressed with what he's done at Louisville in a weak Big East. Others will disagree, say he's a great recruiter. I'm not sold.

But I do know it's a step up from Dooley.

Same, looks like a little better than what we had. Losing to Bama, UF, UGA, and ,USC/maybe, will continue for years to come.

I would be very happy with this hire.

It is hilarious. An old mutual friend that we can no longer mention posted something to this effect the day we hired Dooley:

"In three years...we will all be back at this same place announcing Charlie Strong as the new head coach at UT"

Strong has always been #3 on my list. I wish we could get a package deal with him and Tom Jurich.
