It's happened before.....

if ole miss can run 6 freshman and a newcomer JUCO DT out there in the SEC West then i think we will hold our own in the East. Our division has nothing on the West. More specifically there was times they were using a freshman OT, Freshman OG and a freshman TE. i think we will be okay.

Last year Ole Miss had a record against the West the same as ours against the East. The difference for them is last year they beat Vandy and had an easier non conference schedule (albeit slightly). Now you take that schedule and compare it to ours of this year, you can't expect similar results

Pinning your hopes on lightning striking twice is not very appealing imo.

What is not appealing.....is the systematic squashing of any kind of hope or reasons why we may turn the corner by "vol fans"..... Consistently looking for reasons why we can't/won't make progress.....all under the "baby blanket" of "not being let down".
Pinning hopes on our team winning and lightning striking twice....is exactly what makes me a Vol fan....IMO:)

Travis Henry didn't contribute as a freshman (a couple of carries) but was productive as a soph after Lewis was injured. Lewis did not even play much early in his freshman campaign until he learned the blocking schemes. CBJ won't make that mistake, hope he turns Hurd loose right away.

Lewis rushed for over 1,000 yards and multiple TDs as a freshman iirc. Can't remember if he played early or not, but even if he didn't that would make it more of an accomplishment for him.

i think some of the freshmen will get a lot of playing time, but i don't really expect maybe a couple of them to shine, lets face it,this is the SEC and a Team that relies on Freshmen isn't going to do well,i do hope to see better effort from the team as a whole, but who knows what is going to happen this year,a bowl game will be a major accomplishment for this team

Go Vols

They don't all have to break out into NFL stars immediately. They need to hold their own, hold their positioning and not get gashed for huge chunks of yards on every play. Depth and speed will finally help a little on both sides of the ball.

I'd be happy if Hurd does a little more than what Bryce Brown did. Only because I don't think Lane is as good as Hardesty, and Hurd should see the field more than BB did because of that.

You should really check out Hardesty's stats prior to his senior year, and compare those to Lane's.

Heard butch at boys and girls club dinner tonight. I am more excited than ever about our program. He is changing the culture for the better. The results should follow.

To be exact: 232 for 1,364, 5.87 YPC and 8 TDs was Jamal Lewis' stat line as a freshman.

J. Lewis was a starter by game 3...

I expect at the least 5 True Freshman to start by game 4, and 15 to 17 to contribute through out the year if not more........

Geez Louise - seeing the end of the Arkansas game, that I was in attendance for, does give me a bit brighter lookout for Team 118. Thanks DeusExMachina
