I think that UT picking up Ramar is a huge acquisition for Coach Pearl. It looks like he has great size to play either the 1 or 2 in Pearls system. I think that he will complement Lofton really well with his ability to take the ball to the rim.

One things for certain. I believe Coach Pearl will use Ramar's, as well as all his players talent to its fullest.

That folks is how you adapt, grow, progress and dare be aggressive.

GO COACH PEARL!!!!

If that is inappropiate to some here, I apologize. I can't imagine how much better some other squads UT fields would be if they had leaders that thought that same way.

Again, I don't mean to hurt anyones feelings.

Ramar hasnt been able to play up to his potental most of his high school years, and even his AAU coach said he quit working hard after all his sophomore year hype. Hopefully Pearl can fix this and he can be great

Here are a few quotes from Ramar about Pearl and his visit..

"I could tell the (Tennessee) coaching staff really cared about me, I see where I can fit in. Point guard is where I see myself, especially with Chris Lofton on the wing."

"I came down there (Knoxville) with an open mind and looking to get some facts. It was really the whole weekend that convinced me, once we started going to all the events."

"Coach (Pearl) is a straight up guy and he's real with you, that's somebody I was looking for."

Smith said that he had decided to commit to Tennessee before the Orange and White game even started.

Also when asked about qualifying and taking his test in June, he said.."I'll be all right"..

Is it possible for you to make a post without somehow throwing in a shot at CPF and staff???

Get a life.

Sounds like another great athlete. I only hope his ball handling skills are SEC point guard caliber.

At this point, I think that if he is the guy Pearl wants, then he probably is SEC-caliber.

Obviously, you can't turn down a 5 star player. My point is that our need was not a shooting guard but a point guard. A true point guard. Not a combo, which is just another term for shooting guard.

But I'm very happy with the haul (BTW , welcome aboard Ramar). I know Pearl will make it work. Transition offense works best when you dribble least.

Matt, did you just compare Childress with Ramar Smith in terms ob being a SEC caliber prospect? Please tell me you didn't. Ramar Smith is a future NBA prospect. Its very safe to say he is "SEC-caliber".

Yeah! I agree. Ramar Smith is a guy that could play for any club out there. He's a stud! I was really impressed by what he had said about Pearl and how he knew early on in his visit that he was gonna commit to Tennessee. I've been following him for about 8 months now and was hoping UT would want him. We should all give Coach Pearl a round of applause for the amazing job he has done with the team in such a short time! Thanks, Coach Pearl, for bringing the excitement back to UT mens basketball!!!!!

He initially committed to UCONN and Calhoun recognizes talent and future-NBA talent, so I think its a safe bet to say that this kid can play and we are really lucky to have landed him!
