One reason it seems like the Pride’s role is reduced is because they don‘t play between normal offensive plays at Heupels request as to not interfere with the offensive speed of playing. No music or PA other than the short first down vols call on the PA.

I’m all for celebrating our defense. In the 70s, POTS used to play Gustav Holst’s Mars for our D. However, I’m weary of the tolling bell played all over CFB. If we’re to have “third down” in Neyland, let it be preceded by a recording of Smokey baying. A howling hound dog beats a ringing bell.

As a side note, I'm so glad they changed up the "Welcome To The Jungle" guitar intro on third down. After sitting through this 17 times during the Georgia State embarassment of 2019, I hoped I would never hear that again.

I really like the way they change it up now. Especially the one with the Star Wars Klaxon sound. I'm indifferent to the Star Wars franchise, but it has an ominous ring to it.

I just wish our PA announcer wouldn’t scream “it’s third down”, like anyone watching the game doesn’t already know it’s 3rd down.

I am with you. IMO it’s so distracting and obnoxious to people following the game closely and trying to keep up with play calling etc. I don’t think we should be doing anything that other teams do at their place either. I want Rocky Top to be unique in every way, For the most part….it is! Im sure my opinion is in the minority 🤷.

Thank you. Joker and the thief 10 times a game is awful. Not even a great hype song that gets the crowd pumped no idea why we play it

Funny, that always irritated me a bit watching games on TV, especially if the 3rd downs kept getting converted on a drive, but being at the A&M game, those 3rd down calls further juiced up the crowd. Gets old if the defense is getting gashed, though.
