I've done some research on internet about asu...

(1) Correct... and they gave up 38 and 41 points to those teams respectively, with both games being relatively early in the season so their starters were likely pulled long before the end of the game. Just look at the rest of their schedule and you can see what their real defense looked like (e.g. they gave up 34 points to Troy and 31 to Memphis).

(2) Yep... an offense that scored 7 points against Memphis and also 7 points against the mighty Louisiana Ragin Cajuns.

Nothing personal... but my psycho babble research would suggest that your analysis needs a little more work. You can't just look at "averages" and make broad assumptions without factoring in other criteria.

Lighten up peanut. No need in getting your panties in a wad. I was referring to someone coming on here and saying bs. You did some good research. Too bad you turned into a turd at the end of it.

I hope it was from accurate sites because I went to a lot of different ones. They have 8 returning starters on a defense that was ranked 51st in total and that is with Auburn and Missouri on their schedule. The offense has 4 starters returning from an offense that was ranked 23rd in total, which includes a dual threat qb and the best rb and wr in the league returning. They lost a lot of starting offensive lineman but the replacements are comparable to ours in size. One ol is a little small in today's standards at 274. The coaching carousel has connections with 2 hc in the sec. That might help in some preparation by getting a little inside info on us.
I'm not saying that we won't win, but we could be in for a better fight than most are expecting. Couple that with our young team thinking all we have to do is show up and win could spell disaster. I think if we stick with the run we could wear them down on the defensive line due to the fact that the seconds on the depth chart are all freshmen. This info has tempered my enthusiasm some. I predict a 32 to 22 win for us. I hope it's more but I'm not predicting more than a ten point victory for us.
If anyone wants to do their own research feel free to enlighten me why I'm wrong. (Minus all the psycho babble that has no basis in facts)

To be fair, you did the exact same thing. You filled the entirety of the latter half of your post with psycho babble that has no basis in fact, then told people not to bother you with such. And for the record, "do your own research" and "enlighten me" just reeks with self defensive sarcasm that invites negative responses--especially when your guilty of exactly what you're accusing potential responders of doing.

Just a couple of thoughts for future posts...

No panties wadded roddo. I was simply trying to convey that some of your own "analysis" would more closely align with the "psycho babble" bs that you didn't want back from other posters. I did not mean it as a personal attack, but you surely understand that this is a message board and people are going to post whatever they choose... and your original OP somewhat invited this type of response. :hi:

I always wonder about the people who dismiss research on the internet. Yes, the lie factories make use of the world wide web and publish a continual stream of garbage. But there is also a wealth of good information. I'm guessing that the complainers are not able to distinguish between good sources and bad sources. If that is their problem, then how do they distinguish between good sources and bad sources which are not on the internet? And let's face it, these days almost everything IS on the internet.

Well we had a good thread going until this sidetrack. You are wrong but I'm not gonna get in a pissing contest with you. All of the things I said in my post were facts. My reasonings were based upon those facts. Thus, not psycho babble. I put that last part in to try and avoid the vol posters that call into the Feinbaum show and say we are going to the playoffs and when asked why, they respond with "cause Butch has got the team fired up". The whole thread was going great until "the derailers" show up. Y'all travel in packs I think. I also started this thread because I thought we needed a little more info about ark state than was being posted. Hoped it would generate those kinds of conversations.

I would like to inform you about your future posts as well. When anyone starts a sentence with "nothing personal", it's usually gonna be taken personally.

This game like the last one is about UT... not the opponent. If UT plays well then UT should be successful. They've got a clear talent advantage.

The next game... is when we can start worrying about the opponent more. UT will not have a talent advantage over that team. UT will have to execute well. The game strategy will have to be flawless. And honestly, OU will need to make some mistakes.

What gets me is why fans think every team that wins one week is making a conscious decision to think they're going to go into the next game with a cake walk mentality. Anybody that listens to CBJ knows thats not going to happen. Butch Is the Dr Phil of the mental game. It aint happening but fans throw that out anyway. Second thing is all off season we heard that we were on upset alert and would lose the USt game and we stomped a mudhole in virtually every analyst pick. Now we play a similar team and lose faith that this team cant stomp another mudhole in the next opponent who by the way we play at home. Oh ye of little faith. In bUTch i trust that he knows what the he@# he's doing with this "coaching" thing. (Thats my psychobabble)

Right now the Vols are a better passing team than running. Need better protection though for the QB but need better blocking up front if the running game is gto get better!

OK. Thanks for your wonderful insight and contribution.:ermm:

No problem, this time it's on the house

But seriously, I know everyone is excited for UT football, but after the 38-7 beatdown of USU, does all the research, analysis, and speculative talk seem worth it?

I'll save my energy for Oklahoma and the SEC big boys. We're going to destroy these jokers on Saturday.

I probably should have worded that phrase better in my initial post. I meant to say that it could be possible our young team has a letdown after the emotional win and be over looking asu anticipating the matchup with Oklahoma. It's not as much a factor with a team that has a lot of veterans and are accustom to winning. I do agree that Butch knows that and is trying to keep the young players focused on the task at hand this week. It just seems that over the years of watching football, a team that had a big emotional win is more susceptible to an upset versus a lesser team the next week. (That's my psychobabble)

I like the people making predictions about the Arky state game. But there are a good chunk of us who think Arky is trash and Oklahoma is our next "real" matchup. There is plenty of reason to assume this if you are an SEC dominant conference thinker, which is understandable considering SEC is #1 and Sun Belt dead last at #10:) Now I know this is something to initially look at and laugh, but Arky has actually won that conference three years in a row, which means that they have decent talent, (nothing on us). This team I believe can actually come in and beat us if we don't execute and make the simple plays. They scared missou down to the wire at mizzou last year because mizzou wasn't making the simple plays until the 4th quarter. Regardless, I think it will be a good game and vol nation needs to show up. -Rocky

If we only win by 10 points then we might as well forfeit to OU.
