Izzo is a nightmare

I love me some Bruce Ball but Izzo would eat Bruce's lunch if it came down to a coaching decision. When you look at Izzo's teams in the later rounds of the tourney and realize that probably 80% of the time his team did not have the most talent and still won tells you that he's an awesome coach. Ehh something about Izzo..I know he can't shoot for his teams and it does come down to the players but guys buy into his system almost like he completely brainwashes them to do exactly what he wants. I'd probably still be nervous if he had a middle school team tomorrow.

Eat Bruce's lunch??? Izzo is a great coach. But Bruce Pearl is a great coach as well. I'll put his basketball IQ and motivational abilities against Izzo anytime. I feel good about this game.

Hasn't Izzo been coaching msu 15 years? I read he took over in '95. We had it easy inside against osu. That won't be the case today. We'll have to shoot the ball pretty well, though I expect a grind it out sort of game.

Yes. He had 2 NIT appearances in the first 2 years. That 95 team actually is what started his rebounding addiction. That team could barely hit water if they fell out of a boat. They needed every rebound they could get to take more bad shots. Ever since then the media has tormented MSU fans with the story EVERY :censored: tournament.

We get it...war drill ...football pads...Mateen Cleaves showing players how to do up the helmet chin straps... :horse:

I've got a strong feeling that somebody definitely gets into foul troubles early. I just hope he is wearing green and white.

I agree. The players we cannot afford this to happen to are Chism and Prince, IMO. I'd like to see Prince have another strong game defensively.

It never hurts as a coach when you can bring some Magic into your locker room:

A LITTLE MORE MAGIC: Lucious was awestruck when Johnson came to the locker room before Friday's game to tell the team that defense would win the game. "Everybody just stopped and stared," Lucious said, "It's really like having God in the locker room."

Izzo and his team have been here before and I'm just hoping the Vols don't get the "deer caught in the headlights" look.

In my opinion, this will be biggest factor of today's game. The team needs to know that they are good enough to win this game and to believe that for 40+ minutes and get after it.

And that if we are fortunate enough to get a big lead, keep pushing because MSU is not going away without a fight. This is going to be a tough game, but as long as we trust what we can do, we can win it.

Go Vols! I cannot believe we're playing for a spot in the Final Four today. So awesome. :)

God-- Omniscient/Omnipresent..
Magician--- Able to use slight of hand to make things appear or disappear.

I'll go with magician, since he has been successful in making something seemingly disappear.

okay.... MSU fan here (what can I say.. spying on the others teams board)...

it should be a good game... for the keys are Rebound... like others have said Crashing the boards are our M.O... and keeping out of foul trouble....
can we get something straight with regards to the PG situation.... Korie's A/T ration is actually better than Kalin's.... the worry with Korie is that he does go a bit "playground" at times, if he can keep that under control it should be very very interesting....

with regards to the bench, no quite as weak and you would like to believe.... Obviously Green was Big 10 "6th man" of the year.... Nix/Sherman will see time at C, both freshman and both have gotten better as the year has gone on... and a couple of impressive walk ons in Kiebler and Thornton....

The key for me today with regards to MSU is Raymar Morgan..... if he gets into early foul trouble, we are in trouble.... if he has a monster game then he opens it up for everyone else!!

I agree Morgan is key for MSU - he needs to have 15 and stay out of foul trouble. He does that MSU wins.

The key for UT is rebounding and JP Prince. If Prince can contain defensively and score on offense it will be UT's game.

I read a lot of posts that state they would rather have played Northern Iowa. I disagree. I believe it is an honor for Tennessee to play one of the most storied programs in college basketball to get to the Final Four. Tom Izzo is a class act and a great coach, he reminds me of Dean Smith at Carolina.

Pearl vs. Izzo...Tennessee vs. Michigan State...this is going to be good.
