JP is freakin awesome and he won the game at memphis last year for us.....so screw all of you guys for raggin on him.......you guys aint nothing but a bunch of sale outs.....by the way his free throw shooting is a whole lot better than last year and when JP is in the nba he will look back and laugh at you guys and your pathetic jobs.

So if a player wins one game for us than that makes him an untouchable god to you?

And oh wow, he took his free throw average from 55% to 65%.

Chism, Childress, Maze, Negedu, and Smith still have higher averages.

It's pretty terrible when you make a 10% increase in foul shooting, and are still mediocre.

Too bad his 3 point shooting took a dive from 15.4% to 5.9%, right?

JP should never shoot outside of the paint.

I don't like Chism taking them either. What was he, 1 for 7 at UK? As they say, you are open for a reason.

I agree. Normally Chism is either going to be on or off. Whenever he has an open 3, I think he has the right to take it. If he missed that one, he shouldn't shoot another for the rest of the game. If he gets hot, he can hit the 3's, but if he doesn't.....Well the Kentucky game speaks for itself.

The three point shooters he fouls every single game are big fans of his, too. You guys should start a group or something.

JP....Its ok. Not every one is good enough to play in the NBA, just come to grips with it.

The positive here is that he's only shot 2 of those attempts since conference play began. That's likely 2 more than he should have taken, but still: he's at least playing more to his strengths than he was earlier in the year.

JP knows he can't shoot but sometimes if he is wide open I think he should take it. That is the only way to get better. If you stop and look around not to many other players on our team are shooting that great either. But JP is probably one of the best on the ball defenders we have. Josh Tabb is pretty good as well but Scotty (Rainbow) hopson plays the worst Defense I have ever seen and Cameron (tip-e-toe) Tatum plays so weak its sad. And poor ol Brian Williams looks like a boy amongst men.
Wayne Chism should shoot that shot everytime he is open. He can hit them and sometimes he cant. But the key is he should also follow his shot and JP and Smith should be running in trying to get a put back or tip in. This team stands around and watches to much. JP needs to be slashing to the basket on every series and if Chism is not at the top of the key shooting he needs to be underneath as well. Setting screens away from the ball is the most unselfish thing you can do in a basketball game and we dont do a very good job of it. and when we started this year we were rebounding great now all of a sudden we are getting killed on the boards.

I could just be real upset about this year in both sports but I just think this team every game stands around and waits to see who is going to get hot and lead them to victory. When this is a team sport and the whole team should be in on the action. Bruce needs to sit this team down and tell them when they are ready to play together and help one another and not get down on each other than we will start to win some games.

J.P. is that you? :p

I like J.P. and he has/can be a real asset to this team, but he needs to play within himself and that doesn't involve shooting three-pointers.

And those two were shot clock buzzer beaters.

Ya, I mean big deal, he can't shoot the 3-ball and he's done so twice in like the past 15 games, and in situations where it wasn't like he thought it was the best option, just that it was the only one(assuming you are correct).

I'll take his 2-pt %(62) into account and not be so hard on the guy for those 2 bad decisions in conference play.

Without question, JP should be the last option on the floor for taking a 3. That's why defenses don't get outside the paint to defend him.

I think something is going on with his shoulder, psyche, or something. He had a very serviceable jump shot in high school.

I have to adjust Prince's FG% by 10 percentage points due to the fact that he snow birds when he should be boxing out and rebounding.

The adjusted percentage, also referred to as the APP (Adjusted Prince Percentage), then becomes 52% from the field.

Well then, that puts him at 2nd on our team behind Chism.

I thought this thread should be called Why Chism should never take a 3 point shot. He should be working on a midrange to under the basket game. He doesn't give the team a chance to rebound off of those clangers he throws.
On a side note, if we make the NCAA tourney we are in trouble because you must be able to hit free throws and we still can't do that. Why doesn't Pearl harp on getting inside drawing fouls and practicing free throws til they do them perfect in their sleep?

I can't believe this is being discussed. I mean we know that Prince has the worse 3 point shot since Dane Bradshaw (well he has hit one this year, so maybe he is slightly better), but give him some credit. He has found his role and has only shot 3 since SEC play. That's 1 more than Tanner Wild and Childress and 2 less than Brian Williams in the same time period. Less than anyone on the team. Give him a break. He knows his shot sucks, so that's why he passes it up. I think there is alot more on this team to criticize than a 3 point shot that he no longer takes.

Of all the topics on the board, this is the one that you can't believe is being discussed? :)

I was just throwing it out for discussion because honestly, I was surprised that he had taken that many threes. Maybe it's because he hasn't taken many as of late, but the I thought number was high.

I said it before -- J.P. can help this team if he plays within himself, which, for the most part, he has done a much better job as the season has progressed.

And I agree, there is a lot more to criticize. It was just an observation.

Oh, and Wild and Childress are both better shooters from that range than Prince, but Williams, I may have to start another thread on him. (kidding)

JP will never play a minute in the NBA.He tries to make things happen, but he is not a very smart basketball player and his ability is limited.
