Jahmai Mashack appreciation

I believe Mashack develops a consistent 3 for next season and becomes part of our big 3 with ZZ and Aidoo.
In another thread a couple weeks ago someone said Mashack could easily be replaced in the transfer portal. Dude is a beast.

Not what I said at all but whatever. I've also been advocating for him to be a starter on this team.

Mashack was a defensive hawk all night and James had an amazing game as well. We knew what we would get with Knecht and zz but with aidoo playing bad, these two stepped up big time.
James playing well on offense is one of those things that had to happen to go on this run. Playing 3 on 5 on the offensive end just want get you too far even with DK out there. Frankly, I didn't have much confidence in him doing that but he has got it done.

I am going to tell you with Mashack and Zeigler both out there, it is utter chaos for the other team to try to get a play started. IMO Mashack just gets the other team uncomfortable from the very beginning of the game. And his hustle on the boards is amazing for his size. Also a major shout out to Awaka. He played so strong.

McDermott just acknowledged in presser that he knew the game was harder for them with Vescovi out (bc of Mashack's increased minutes)
I said it in another thread. With respect and appreciation to Vescovi. But we won because he didn’t take minutes from more athletic guys. We needed to bully them and score points. We did.

Listening to McDermott and watching Mashack and ZZ wreck total havoc on Creighton, makes you wonder if it is better bringing SV off the bench. I know some people are going to say SV adds spacing to the offense, but maybe not having to defend the best player as much, will relieve SV of some the pressure on him and allow SV to get his offense going. Maybe you stagger SV with DK some and tell him it’s his job to bring some offense and run sets for him.

Maybe Vescovi should sit awhile...just sayin'. There was a reason no one panicked when it was announced he was out.
So did not having SV hurt us or help us?
I feel confident that Vescovi would have played better than Dillione, and we kinda ran out of options at the end of the first half that lead to us being down. Mashack should get more minutes but he was tired at the end of the game

Put him on Eady, guarantee he won't be able to put it on the floor. He dominated the CU big, even blocked his shot!

Wasn’t going to call you out by name, but this is what you said.

Mashack and Dillione are fine players especially Mashack but they are not at a level that you lose sleep at night worrying about them transferring. This is the transfer portal era of college sports and the market will be flooded with their skill set.
Mashack could have a breakout year. Confidence on offense is a lot of his issue. Being forced into having to score more could help him. As of right now he has to be considered just a valuable role player. Nothing wrong with that at all just not something that fans should be obsessing about losing.

Yes of course. Just saying reverse the rolls of Mashack and Vescovi.
