Jalen Hurd's first TD run of 2013

Well, after watching him play yesterday, he will be too tall for RB. Not really, but there will be pressure on him to change positions if he grows any. You can bet he will grow an inch, and add a minimum of 20 to 30 lbs once in college. 6'5", 250+, 4.4 speed with great hands. There will be someone, if not many people telling him to look to tight end, or defense to get the most out of an NFL career. Don't get me wrong, he will play RB when he gets here, but look for a possible change down the road. Maybe even more WR this year as the other RB for Beech looked every bit as impressive. Hard to keep either one of those guys on the sideline. I think it is really tough to say that he is a natural RB because what he is is the best athlete on the field and therefore dominates. I would love to see him blow up the SEC as a RB and it will be interesting to see. He also looks
like a natural for a college OLB with his size and speed, not to mention he would be the scariest safety in the SEC at his size, speed and ability to go up and get balls. Wherever he ends up, who cares as long as it is in the orange. Now lets get Malone!

I caught about half of the game. I doubt he has the stats this year than last year. Announcers said he averaged about 40 carries per game because the no. 2 back missed some games, plus their soph. no. 3 RB looked pretty good himself. I don't care about his stats this year. The kid is going to be a great player no matter what position he ends up, but you can be sure that Butch is going to have him with the RB's next year.

Was such a thrill to see UT fans scattered throughout the Beech fans.
JH has got to notice the UT love for him.

Based on the game yesterday, I couldn't honestly say Hurd was the clear #1 back on Beech. The coach has 2 studs at RB. Because Jalen in more versatile, I would expect him to play more that just RB this year. Am I wrong or did they say he only played RB last year because the # 1 was suspended?

For that matter, I would take both Malone's from Station Camp and both RBs from Beech in a heartbeat. That other Malone on SC was a hoss.

I was at the game and can assure you Malone wasn't going to catch Jalen. It looked more like it on TV watching the replay as Malone flashes into the picture near the goal line. I was watching Malone and he didn't gain on him until it was too late.

I don't know if either of them let up or both of them, but Malone definitely catches him with an extra 5-10 yards. That's to be expected, though.

Thanks Freak. I looked hard for it this morning with out any luck. I like the way he hit the hole hard and sliced by. That's running. It looks easy on film, but a slight change of direction at point of attack at high speed is the key to consistent RB production.

They did say that he was expected to play more at wide receiver, had Dorian Carter not gotten into trouble. I got the impression that such a scenario would have been employed to get both Hurd and Carter on the field at the same time. I certainly didn't get the impression that Carter would have beaten Jalen out but the way things unfolded, Hurd was utilized more heavily at tailback than their coach probably would have preferred. Even so, they said that Carter scored 13 touchdowns in the eight games after he came back from suspension.

I like the fact he doesn't even hesitate and hits the hole with authority...No dancing around he sees it and goes...He might become the best RB We've ever had at UT...It's going to be hard to bring him down that's for sure.
