Per the scoop:

A source close to the situation has just told us that Vanderbilt is currently working through a contract with Maryland offensive coordinator James Franklin.

If true, once again, Vanderbilt continues to up hold their long standing tradition of a committment to suck.

At least Vandy is back to being Vandy. I think I would have held on for the Maryland job. Over/Under on how long before he is axed, 3 years?

I'm excited.

I want to see Vandy try to run some haphazard joke of the WCO.

Dude was a straight badass in the Danish American Football Federation. We should be worried.

"Per Basilio" makes me laugh out loud. That guy is one bad Tennessee fan. If I had mislead as many Vol fans as he has, I would be hated.

I think Vandy should try the triple option, since it exists to help teams with lesser athletes be competitive.

Pretty funny stuff over at Vandymania.

Just a few days ago they were going ballastic over Gus turning them down and then the reports of it being Franklin were just making many of the few left claim they would never support Vandy football again. Now after his first press conference they are calling it an "outstanding" hire.

Yeah...whatever Vandy.

worst hire ever?

No. I can think of several recent hires that have been worse. He's a young, aggressive dude who thinks he can make a mark a BCS cellar program.

I watched part of his press conference yesterday, and I my overwhelming thought was, "This guy has no idea what he just stepped in."

Actually, Vandy was intent on hiring a black coach in the first place.

This guy is black?

Bump;

He's putting together a decent staff. Using co-defensive coordinators with Bob Shoop who was DC at William and Mary, and Brent Pry who was DC and safeties coach at Georgia Southern.
